Guest guest
I *strongly* suspect my mother-in-law has celiac, or at the very least is gluten-intolerant. She has discoid lupus, fibromyalgia (or so she's been told), extreme fatigue, arthritis, migraines, etc. I'm very close to convincing her to get tested for this and I need some good first-hand information from our gluten-free folks. What is the best, or most accurate methods of testing for this. Would it be the antibody blood tests: endomysial, reticulin (IgA), and gliadin (IgG and IgA)? Or a biopsy of the colon?? Also....I don't want her going to a dr. to have him/her run some arbitrary test and tell her " Nope, you don't have it. " I would like to find someone who knows what they are doing. Would a gastroenterologist be the right person to refer her to?? She's very overwhelmed by gluten-free and what it means....I want her to have the right information to be able to make a wise choice in this. I think her life will be shortened by this, if she doesn't turn it around. Thanks everyone...
