Wait a second, you shaved your beard because of a little grey? I don't have a daddy complex as far as I know, but a nice salt-and-pepper beard is a beautiful thing. I really can't decide which is hotter, the light blonde strands when my husband was a youngun or the grey he's getting now. Shaving it is too much like a combover for me.
