Guest guest
I have used Epsom Salt in the bath tub, that seems to work pretty well on younger children. > > I know this subject has been brought up before, but I kind of ignored it as I didn't have time to read all the emails at the time.....so sorry for bringing this up again.... > > Melody is constipated. She is only 3, and does not take pills. She's very difficult to give medication to as she can taste anything that's out of the norm, and will spit it out. Even the " so-called " good flavored stuff...like cherry flavored meds, etc. I also need a permanent fix so to speak. As I mentioned, she's ALWAYS constipated, no matter what she eats. > > Thanks in advance for your help! > > Lynn Shoop > Co-Director > > www.novatomothersclub.com > www.mycmsite.com/lynnshoop > > >
Guest guest
Lynn, after 's discovery from Shanna, I would like to suggest you consider getting a comprehensive stool test. had that problem her entire life, Shanna shared her (or I wouldn't post it) that she has NO flora. None. Just makes me wonder if other kids with motility problems like your daughter might have the same problem. Or, you could give her lots of probiotics every day and see if it would help. Black stools can but not always be indicative of blood. Food dyes, dark meat, and darker colored foods can make it black, too, like spinach. Everyone says Oxy-Powder is the best stuff. Definitely NOT the bleach!!! It's a capsule that you can mix in something like juice: http://www.oxypowder.com/ You may need to only mix 1/4-1/2 capsule at a time or put in a colored glass/cup so she can't see the juice, it does change the appearance, looks whiter, cloudy, that kind of thing. Guest guest
Dear Lynn As others have said it may be nothing but you need to have this checked by a doctor. My younger brother has a condition called " Portal hyertension " Doctors found it when he was about 4 years old. It has something to do with bleeding into the stomach and an oversized spleen. Doctors found it because his stool sample was black like licorice. > > I know this subject has been brought up before, but I kind of ignored it as I didn't have time to read all the emails at the time.....so sorry for bringing this up again.... > > Melody is constipated. Guest guest
Hi, my daughter who is 4 yrs old had constipation from 2 weeks old until she was 3 1/2 yrs old. Then we took out casein (milk) for a couple weeks to see if it would help with anything and ever since she has had normal stools. For some people, milk products really constipate, even a little. We tried everything before that. After that she potty trained easily probably too. I was just curious if you have tried milk free to see if it would help her? We had to be sure to give her calcium supplments but her almond milk she drinks has some calcium. Also, my daughter did have almost black stool especially if she ate blueberries (her fav) or spinach or when I used to give her a multivitamin with iron. We also give probiotics and had her stool tested but that was when she was already on the casein free diet for a couple months and it normal. I would get it tested. > > I know this subject has been brought up before, but I kind of ignored it as I didn't have time to read all the emails at the time.....so sorry for bringing this up again.... > > Melody is constipated. Guest guest
Just a warning and info you will probably want regarding miralax...we tried miralax a few times and it works great (too great actually) for constipation but I had to google it and I read this which scared me so I didn't give it to her anymore. It's worth checking out before you give it... http://www.danasview.net/miralax.htm > > > > I know this subject has been brought up before, but I kind of > ignored it as I didn't have time to read all the emails at the > time.....so sorry for bringing this up again.... > > > > Melody is constipated. Guest guest
I went back to Dana's website and I forgot she listed things to help with constipation and she also talks about things that make it worse. I thought it was interesting she says that a child with heavy metal toxicity can have chronic constipation. we haven't tested for that yet but that's the next step. Here is that link.. http://www.danasview.net/constip.htm > > > > > > I know this subject has been brought up before, but I kind of > > ignored it as I didn't have time to read all the emails at the > > time.....so sorry for bringing this up again.... > > > > > > Melody is constipated. Guest guest
Miralax is what we were giving for years. We took her to a DAN last month who put her on the GF/CF diet and she has been pooping everyday with out problems since. I hope it keeps up but if she does get bound again I will never give the Miralax again. -------------- Original message ---------------------- > thanks I will take her off this we had tried alot of stuff and this is the only > thing that worked--kristi > > wrote: Just a warning and info you will > probably want regarding miralax...we > tried miralax a few times and it works great (too great actually) for > constipation but I had to google it and I read this which scared me > so I didn't give it to her anymore.
