Guest guest
Hello: Maybe this is off-topic. But who knows someone can help us. Our 8-year-old daughter still sucks her thumb. We don't know what to do about that. We don't want to be " invasive " , such as plastering her thumb. No amount of talking has done good. She replies she wants to stop, but then it is sort of automatic. Could it be masking any nutritional deficiency? The fact is she sucks it since she was born, in fact even in the womb. There are people both in my family and in her mother's that sucked their thumbs during chilhood, but not all of them stopped it as grown-ups. Could it be genetic, too? She is a pretty girl, otherwise, and we are concerned about dental or labial deformation. Her doctor told us to look for a psychologist. We have talked to one, but we found that the " treatment " can be long and expensive. Really, we don't have the means. Can anyone out there suggest anything? Does anyone have previous experience with this? Thank you in advance. José
