Hello,

My name is Pam and I have an eight year old daughter named . She was

diagnosed with ASD at the age of three. It has been our quest for a long time to

do everything to help her. She is joyous and incredibly sweet! I enjoy her

company and personally sooo much! We have just recently got the autistic waiver

and I am just blown away with the resources, it is providing. I am now working

from our home with an ABA therapist setting goals for her and documenting her

progress. I have always loved for who she is dispute any of her

difficulty, becuase she has always been such an incredible lovable child, and I

have to say this is an exciting time for our family now! This new work is

helping me to learn even more about her and she is really showning marked

improvements with her skills levels. I am looking forward to sharing with new

friends.

Hi Pam:

My daughter Darby is 13 and still has pica. I give her gum to chew when she

chooses to chew on rubber and swallow it... etc. She does swallow her gum

though but I figure it is healthier?... Sorry not much help.. I once read that

you can get a pill with micro organisms from the dirt and it can help with

pica... Sorry to babble just thought I'd say hi...

others here have.

My son had very intense PICA--it has pretty much faded--but I noticed that when

he needed to pass a bowel movement--he tended to eat rubber--it ran through him

and I think he sensed this---it made it easier--maybe I'm crazy but I really

think he used it as a laxative--Bill

Hi Pam!

Priscilla had pica when she was little but seemed to evolve out of it.

I really think that going GFCF and supplementing is what licked it.

no pun intended, well I know pica is eating not licking but still...

I couldn't let Priscilla color with crayons even if I sat with her

the whole time because she would always find a way to take a bite

even with me right there and paper and kleenex so gross...

Anyway she is now 5 and eats only food items mostly nutricious :)
