Self-Intro of ee Meade, Burke, VA

I'm ee Meade. My husband and I live in Burke, VA, which is a

Northern-Virginia suburb of Washington, DC. Burke is in Fairfax County. My

I would love to be a raw milk consumer, but to the best of my knowledge, it

is illegal to sell raw milk in Virginia (I'm not even sure if possession is

legal), but cow share programs seem to be legal. I considered a cow share,

but my husband and I plan to retire and relocate in a few years, and the

farms I looked at on line talked about a commitment of a decade or more.

So I'm hoping that when we do relocate it will be to an area where we can

purchase raw milk or a cow or goat share.

I learned about raw milk through the Weston A Price Foundation, and I

learned about WAPF from my physical therapist. I'm trying to learn as much

as I can about traditional diets and to feed myself and my husband a better

diet. We are obtaining some of our meats and eggs from local farmers who

practice sustainable farming, and we purchased a CSA share for the first

time this year. We're enjoying the vegetables we get every week in our

share.

I joined this list to try to learn more about the issues concerning raw

milk. I understand the health benefits, and I'm learning about the

politics. I've also learned to appreciate the cost of producing raw milk.
