Guest guest
I agree with both of you. My daughter followed a normal vaccination pattern throughout her toddler and preschool years. When she received her vaccinations, as a diligent parent I watched her carefully for any kind of side effects and did not notice any. She was diagnosed when she was 5 1/2. When I told my best friend about my daughter's diagnosis, her FIRST statement to me was that I should get an attorney and look into filing against the vaccine makers, because obviously the shots had caused her autism. It was an immediate, shotgun response on her part--your child had vaccines, she has autism, it's somebody's fault! And that was my first exposure to the rabidly anti-vaccine crowd. There are plenty of people out there who oppose vaccines who are reasonable about it, and I respect their opinion. Unfortunately, there is a certain sub-group that absolutely will not listen to anybody but themselves, and they make the rest look bad. Guest guest
cathy I to agree. for me it was of the same as i to remember of from when i was to be to have ate or crushed glass bulbs into my mouth and be to cause of mouth be of much blood. I to getted of a s \pank for that and the fatehr had of me to spit of the glass out that was of hard for one who had no ideas of the time how to really spit, but that is of the story I to be o told of me as a little girl. for me as a little girl I to had of much safe issues. as a child it was of not as a personal difference it was of a real challenge. I to know of many like of me and from watching them it to them is of not a good life always because of the safe and heatlh factors that keep happening for many of us. now as adult I to beof mo9re a HFA person vbut not always been of this level/ some are of much HFA and are of this from early on and so it does seem to be fo a difference not so much a serious challenges for them. sondra

Guest guest
i have been reading alot, and i ask myself the question, whats the use in suing anyone over vaccines? is this going to make my daughter better? As far as i know she will get some kind of pension when she gets older, not sure about her future when my husband and i won't be here...but ultimately someone will have to take care of her.......i don't even want to go there. sure we are putting aside things for her, and will take a closer look at things once she reaches 16, which is 2 years away yet........sure, people will say, get the money it will take care of her.......but will it? and i cannot prove those vaccinations did a thing, and if i had my time over, sure i might have given them differently, but i still would have given them. Guest guest
It will ensure there is financial ability to provide a place to live, supervision if needed, etc. Heck no it's not gonna change things but being disabled in a homeless shelter vs. being disabled in one's own home with trained caregivers are far different scenarios. The fact that you are able to set something aside is better than a lot of us are able to do. Some of us have to take from our pension plans to be able to purchase medications, such as the $2,000/mo IVIG for our kids with screwed up immune problems, a common issue affecting those with autism. There are a LOT of poor families with vaccine-injured children. The kids won't get what they need until the parents can get some funding. My daughter's doctor told me yesterday about a kid with autism whose family is so poor they live off squirrel meat, he has ammonia issues that are insane and they cannot find anyone in their region to help their son. Guest guest
I to be to not believe ALL people of autism are of result of vaccine injury but I to feel some may truely be. But for me as I to shared the family of me is of with a strong genetics for being born with much auitsm to little autism but there are much in my family for 3 generations that have of the spectrum to the mother and fathers side. the fathers side has much motor tics, and off ways of thems beings and yet reflect more of an Aspergers like presentation. the father of me likes to collect rocks and travels all over to dig for them. he has muchinterest into documentaries and such and is of not a affectionate physiclaly like person, he like me, loves from inside but lacks how to show of it from the outside. but we have of many members who in the last 3 generations on the fathers side commit of the suicide and so this too is of a strong things in the family and i to think is of direct result of lack of dx and lack of understanding the reasons for their differences among others. But autism is of a great challenge for the birth mothers side and there are of much members with classical forms and many with aspergers form but the fact is there is of more classical forms than aspergers froms among the members. although i to have much second cousins who appear much so with aspergers one cousin shared no wonder we all feel like the adams family among the rest? she was of refereing to her family siblings and parents. but we have of many flappers and many non speakers and then some like of me who had of this as younger ones and slowly over many years maked progress and developed some skills which can reflect of aspergers now but is not. one of the cousins of me was of a strong rocker and even at age of 10 or so she loves her one rocking horse and she rocked it until she breaks them and the family buys of her a new one each time, she was like me an observer from the distance, rare to speak and just was of isolated loner. she grew up to find alcohol to cover her fears and pains of not understanding of her own beings even to this day but her mohter and siblings now understand and suspect of it. sondra

Guest guest
Sondra, Thank you for such a terrific point of view. All I was saying is we as parents have to advocate for our kids and that vaccines were not the ONLY issue. I never wanted to discount the experiences of others. I wanted to say, " hey there is my opinion, too " . As always, your posts are thoughtful and I like your perspective on many topics. Sincerely, Teresia aka bookfairy > > I to be to not believe ALL people of autism are of result of vaccine > injury but I to feel some may truely be. Guest guest
I'm not going to throw any heat at anyone. I'm of the opinion that there are multiple causes for autism. I don't think we can pin any ONE cause for all of the various types of autism and that's what's making it so hard to treat/cure. I have two autistic children. My daughter is definitely more of a regressive type...and if I had to " place blame " I would go with the MMR shot. However my son was autistic from birth; there's no doubt in my mind. They also don't seem to have similarities in their autism. My daughter was more vocal at the age of my son, had more eye contact and was overall higher-functioning (not aspergers). However my son likes more physical contact, does more toe walking and does more hand flapping and sensory issues. So it almost seems like they have two different " types " of autism, if you will. So I'm just throwing in my two cents based on my kids. I definitely agree that it's not JUST vaccination but I don't think that it's JUST anything else either. > > > From: bookfairy0 <bookfairy0yahoo (DOT) com> > > Subject: I know I am going to get heat for this one... > > To: Autism_in_Girls@ yahoogroups. com > > Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 12:16 PM > > OK, I have 4 kids and 3 of them have ASD. I've never heard of " spontaneous " regression; all I " ve heard of typical kids regressing has been after vaccines. Did she not have any developmental delays before then? Mine had delays of about 5 months but had a friend whose daughter also was developing at about the same rate, so I wasn't too concerned. I just thought she was 3 more months delayed than my typical daughter who seemed about 2 mos delayed. Just curious, Marie A.

Guest guest
Just adding that I agree that there seems to be different causes of autism. I have two sets of twins and one from each set is autistic. I also have a NT 3 year old and am due with number 6 in February. My daughter who is 10 and from the first set of twins definitely seemed different at birth. We have found at in the last year or so that she has a rare genetic disorder that most likely is the cause of her autism. My son who is autistic from the second set seemed totally on track from birth did everything developmentally appropriate except he never spoke until he was about 3 1/2. His other issues are mostly sensory. I also feel certain that certain children were definitely hurt from vaccines. I think certain people react and hold on to different things they are exposed to even if others don't Thanks! I know I am going to get heat for this one... > > To: Autism_in_Girls@ yahoogroups. com > > Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 12:16 PM > > OK, I have 4 kids and 3 of them have ASD.
