Guest guest
My son had sensory issues and clothing issues with his OCD and the folks at USF ( aformentioned Dr Storch) said to treat with ERP. It actually works QUITE well. > > Hi group, > The lady that posted regarding 3 yr. Old with OCD and sensory issues who tried sensory integration to no avail and then used ERP: wow. My 8 yr. Old with OCD has some annoying sensory issues and I was going to try an OT next week. Now I'm wondering if I should save myself the time and money and try to find someone that does ERP? Her obsessive OCD is controlled with Lexapro. But she has some breakthrough sensory stuff. Always grabbing at her privates because her " lips " are sticking (not a socially appropriate behavior to say the least) and socks drive her crazy. > So group, what do you think? > Becky in N.D. >

Guest guest
Does your child have other sensory issues, or do you think this is more the " just right " form of OCD? Guest guest
Becky, had OT privately, which began in 6th grade, had it I think almost 2 years.... But he had fine & gross motor still issues too. We went for his writing, how it worsened after OCD. However, he also had a lot of sensory stuff - that of course I can't recall all of now, but extreme picky eater, food textures, sensitive to odors...; actually since he was older, they had him fill out a form (like check off stuff on it) and me fill out the same one about him. He had more issues than I knew about, some I didn't mark on mine about him. ANYWAY - OT was wonderful. They worked on his " whole body " and not just the writing/motor skill, but motor skills and sensory. I'm glad he had it. So there may be more things that your 3 yr old has " going on " than you are aware of, and you might at least want to get an evaluation to see what turns up. > > Hi group, > The lady that posted regarding 3 yr.
