Guest guest
For some odd reason, I was pleasantly suprised to find my sourdough pancake batter smelled exactly like mint instead of the normal sourdough smell I'm used to. It definitely fermented, and the only recent change I made was reviving my almost empty sourdough starter with wheat, when I have been using rye or spelt for the last few months. The original starter was created on wheat though. Whatever the case, it is strangly appealing, and is still rather sour tasting but has a definite mint flavor. It was rather delicious. Tomorrows batch already is smelling minty. They are just 3/4 cup rye, 1/4 cup amaranth, and 1/4 shredded coconut (powdered). Same recipe I've been using for the last few weeks. Strange huh? Is my sourdough in the holiday mood or something?
