I use my foodsaver when I buy raw cheese in bulk. Cut it up into 1 lb chunks and wrap these in wax paper then vacummn seal. Cheese lasts for months and months this way. I also make hamburgers up in bulk and stack em between wax paper then food vac the stack. We've also used it to force a marinade into meat at the last minute. The pumpnseal is just easier to use in a jiffy. I've not been able to get the bag sealing part to work for me but with jar lids it's fabulous.
