I know that this is the right group to ask. Are people getting any gain from organic milk like Horizon. Or is it just the same as regular pasteurized milk once cooked it to "death"?

I've noticed that most of the organic brand name milk (like Horizon) is ultra-pasteurized. I think it's so it can sit on the store shelves much longer maybe because there's less demand and it's more expensive.

I would definitely avoid drinking anything that's ultra-pasteurized. It's beyond dead - it's probably very toxic. You can't even make yogurt from ultra-pasteurized milk.

Also, for those who don't have access to raw cream (like myself) and must buy pasteurized cream, I've noticed that almost ALL heavy cream on the market is now ultra-pasteurized. The only place I can buy regular pasteurized cream is Trader Joes. And maybe places like Whole Foods (I haven't looked lately).

I have a lot of friends that think organic milk is the way to go these

days, in a land where uncooked milk is illegal, aka NJ. I tell them,

endlessly, that organic milk is ultra-pasteurized, which may be worse

than just drinking the regular pasteurized version. Marketing fools

many, and organic isn't always better, esp in the case of milk.

Apparently, it's ultra-pasteurized because no antibiotics are

administered to the animals. So, they feel they must cook it " to

death " , as you said, to kill any and all bacteria that may be present.

Most people are unaware of the how unhealthy this is. I always point

them in the direction of a dairy farm in NY that sells their milk to the

tri-state area, Tuscan Dairy, if they can't get raw milk. They pledge

no rBGH, although it is not " organic " . Plus, I remember hearing that

Horizon has had issues with being really organic. That's also something

to think about.

Years ago I switch from regular milk to organic. It made a big

difference in my skin. I stopped breaking out and being red and oily

all over. That rBGH is a killer!

Organic milk doesn't contain RBGH but Horizon is the worst brand. I'm

allergic to RBGH and bought so-called 'organic' butter from the

grocery store--store brand, but made from the same company that

produces Horizon. I wound up in the ER. It turns out, not all

organic is created equal. The gov't will consider a cow organic if

it's fed organic for a period of time--not it's whole life.

Apparently, the 'organic' butter I received was from a cow that had

residual RBGH in its system.

After that I would only purchase Organic Valley dairy products. This

is still homogonized and pasturized, so it's still not good for you.

I just posted a new thread about milk and Krohn's disease. The linked

video explains exactly why homogonization and pasturization are bad.

After watching the video today, I finally decided to bite the bullet

and am getting a cow share.

Tammy, you wont regret it. As a little kid I was raised with Raw Milk.. but growing up my mother switched to homo/pasteurized milk... I reacted to it but I was too young to understand. Later on, I was what they called "Lactose intolerant"... Everytime I would drink some store milk I'd cramp and it seemed that some brands of milk or dairies were worse than others.
