Guest guest
I am ready for your list! Going shopping today. Getting Rice Milk, and Tofutti slices (if I can find them!). She loves her Cheerios and Milk and cheese too....these are her two big dairy items.... Going to the health food store to find the multi-mineral, calcium fruit chews and fish oil stuff. wish me luck! We get the calcium chews from Henrys Market. They come in chocolate flavor also. They are good they taste like a taffy. We also found that she tolerates some soy products. We use Tofutti slices. They come in Mozzarella flavor and American flavor. We use them to make pizzas and grilled ch. The same store sells gf bread and mixes like chebe bread mix, very easy to make little pizzas out of and deserts. Let me know if I can help with anything else. My daughter is so picky so we have to get things that taste similar to the real thing. So I could give you the name of things we have had good luck with. > > > > > > > > > Is there anything that can be done to heal this problem or > will > > > she > > > > > forever be low in IgA? > > > > > > > > > Her other urine oats test had showed she was deficient > > > in " GLUTAMINE " > > > > > and this report says there is a connection. > > > > > Anyone want to elaborate on all this? > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Shanna, > > > > > > > > There are certain genetic conditions in which IgA is abnormally > > > low > > > > from birth ( I think it's 1 in 400), in which case it is > > > challenging > > > > to correct it. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I just saw your post. You probly already went shopping. How did it go? I remember feeling so overwhelmed in the begining. My friend who was already doing the diet met me at the health food store and I'm not sure I remembered anything she said. Something that I have heard the kids like more is Almond Milk. My daughter liked this a little better but prefers none of them. The Almond Milk comes in Regular, Chocolate and Vanilla. Here are a few other items we always have in our cupboards raw fruits raw veges. (she will not eat cooked or steamed) chebe bread mix (variety of them) organic popcorn plain with organic coconut oil and sea salt Pamelas has the best brownies and cake mixes) Vans Gf\Cf frozen waffles organic eggs Soy Silk chocolate velvet ice cream Pamelas boxed cookie gf/cf Tinkyada Pasta products (they are the best they do not stick or get mushy and we tried a lot of products) Glutano pretzles My daughter likes chicken so she eats a lot of this My daughter is so picky that it makes it kind of easy to stick to the diet. You may want to check out the gluten free pantry online What I did that helped me is just try to replace the things that she liked to eat with the same things but with no dairy in them. I was freaked because everything she ate had dairy in them. So in the begining whenever she wanted milk I would give her diluted juice. When she wanted doritos I gave her popcorn etc. etc.. Then I found this movie called food fun and she started wanting different veges and fruit which she absolutely never ate and she was seven or eight at the time. Sometimes we will get pizza from a restraunt and we will get her a small with no cheese. This works when we go to birthday parties and such. I hope this helps some. Let me know if I can help with anything at all. > > > > > > > > > > > Is there anything that can be done to heal this problem or > > will > > > > she > > > > > > forever be low in IgA? > > > > > > > > > > > Her other urine oats test had showed she was deficient > > > > in " GLUTAMINE " > > > > > > and this report says there is a connection. > > > > > > Anyone want to elaborate on all this? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Shanna, > > > > > > > > > > There are certain genetic conditions in which IgA is > abnormally > > > > low > > > > > from birth ( I think it's 1 in 400), in which case it is > > > > challenging > > > > > to correct it. Guest guest
If your daughter eats most of the things on your list, I can assure you, she is NOT a picky child!!!! I know, it's all relative. Don't mean to make light of struggles for you. I have a friend who complains that her daughter with autism will only eat her husband's homemade chili, vegetarian & pepperoni pizza, almond butter sandwiches, waffles, bananas. I would LOVE for Allie to get that much variety!!! I'm trying to get Allie back on gfcf, we're gonna go full-time as soon as school is out. I took her to Earth Fare last week, she was MAD about it. I tried to explain that she has allergies and she will feel better. She doesn't care. We are having success with Kinnikinnick's vanilla coated donuts for breakfast. For lunch we send gfcf chicken nuggets, chips, and sometimes toss in some tings or pretzels or cookies. She isn't eating much, but we had agreed before deciding the diet that she could also get a lunch tray at school to help her open to more variety. The daily notes that she picked something cheesey and/or a bun or bread off the tray helped it click we needed to try the diet again. For supper all she wants are fries. I have been getting her in the past Gerber meat sticks, but it has skim milk powder in is so we're gonna have to stop. She will drink the crap out of some lemonade and some fruit juices. Before she had problems with salicylates, so we had to limit her fruit juice to pear or mango. Anyone know if the almond or rice milks come in the individual strawberry flavors? I got some soy tonight, but I know soy isn't too good to give. I figured if I rotate it out like once a week she may not develop any problems with it. Last time we were gfcf she got a very high IgG to rice so I really think a rotation diet would be most successful for Allie Kat. Guest guest
-Thats the problem, thats all she eats maybe with a couple other things. Everyday, the same thing and it has to be prepared a certain way. I'm not complaining because I know she is eating healthy. I guess it would be nice if she would eat a hamburger or a hotdog with the rest of the family. I am so used to the diet now. It's just a part of our life for us. It's just more preparation now. So I bought myself a roller ice chest and this is what I take her meals in when we go anywhere. & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007;Yeah! when we started looking at lables we could not believe that everything she ate had milk in it. & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007;\ & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007; & #65007;-- In Autism_in_Girls , " Debi " wrote: & #65007; & #65007; > & #65007; & #65007; > If your daughter eats most of the things on your list, I can assure & #65007; & #65007; > you, she is NOT a picky child!!!! Guest guest
Well, you are an inspiration to me! That's one of my biggest concerns, we've developed a habit of eating out when ever we travel. I'm doing really well at cooking at home (one of my resolutions this year) but the traveling thing still makes me nervous. One thing I would love is to see Allie eat just one fruit & one veggie. She has in recent months taken a bite of a banana and a bite of an apple, but she still doesn't want it. I saw the organic applesauces tonight & thought of how wonderful it would be if I could send her a pack of applesauce each day. We can dream, right? Guest guest
-Oh yeah! I do a lot of dreaming. One thing good about Miranda being picky is that she will not want most of the items from the places we go. She is happy with the food she is familiar with, that we brought with us. This has helped with her having two older sistes close in age. They have learned to respect there sister and not eat certain things in front of her like macaroni and cheese, which Miranda will still ask for sometimes. Her sisters know first hand the results of her eating this product first hand. And let me tell you it's not pretty. They might sell those indiviual drinks you were asking about. I remember seeing something. I think they were chocolate though. -- In Autism_in_Girls , " Debi " wrote: > > Well, you are an inspiration to me!
