I am and (age 13/autism) was my 5th child. I have had that crazy

shot once during each pregnancy and then probably 3 times more

afterwards (once for each positive RH baby).

I think that is something to have them look into.

My mom is RH- also.

Yes, I am O- and had RHogam with my daughter (autistic-3.5 years old).

The label on the syringe read " contains mercury " What did I know back

then?!!!!!! She is O+ so I had a second dose after delivery.

I finally got the nerve to get pregnant again. I talked to my doctor

and looked at the vial. It contains no preservatives. Also, I will

not vaccinate my next child. It may not prevent autism, but I will be

able to live with myself.

Possibly. I'm O Negative and both my kids are A Positive. They're 9 years apart

(different dads) and with my son (the older one), I got my Rhogam after

delivery. With my daughter (my Aspie), I got MicroRhogam at about 28 weeks

because that was the ACOG recommendation for us Rh Negatives, as well as after

delivery. Which sort of leads me to a new thought (well, actually, I thought

about it several years ago). The source of Rhogam for many years has been Rh

sensitized women (women who have actually developed antibodies). So what happens

when that donor pool dries up? Recombinant DNA technology. And the Rhogam web

site emphasizes that it's latex and mercury free. However, my daughter (she's

19) did receive all her vaccinations on schedule (except for her hepatitis B).

Her growth and development was unremarkable except for language interruption at

around 2 years old. She's quite articulate and I'm happy she's quit saying

Mother with its implied bleep-you!

Is it just me, or are most of us O Negative? ,RN

lemobrn@... I find that a sherry in the afternoon helps me feel more

kindly disposed towards the children. Anonymous southern belle

it for a miscarriage and it cost $130 as insurance doesn't cover it.

My mom was actually asking me about this not too long ago. I'm the

oldest of 4. My mom is RH-, all except my youngest sister are RH+. So

she got her first RhoGam shot after I was born, and then one shot

during and after each subsequent pregnancy. (Well, not after the last

one, since Molly is also RH-). Anyway, out of the 4 of us, I'm the

only one who doesn't have a million sensory issues, OCD, anxiety, etc.

One of my sisters had fibromyalgia. They all have stomach and

digestive issues or food intolerances. My brother has kidney problems.

I don't have any of those issues at ALL. Anyway, I was talking to my

mom about some of my sister's current anxiety problems recently and

she said something to the effect of, " How did I only end up with one

healthy kid? " We got to talking about her pregnancies and that was

when she made the connection that I was the only one who wasn't

exposed to the RhoGam shot.

So...who knows? Maybe there is something to it.

You know, my daughter is almost 13, and I've seen this topic come up over

and over again in different web groups through the years. Nothing conclusive

ever seems to come of it, because those of us who aren't RH- don't really

respond to the question and there are too many people who just like to listen

but

aren't comfortable speaking up to get a realistic count.

I wonder, do any of us know of a concrete study of the percentages that's

been done? Was the percentage of RH- mothers actually elevated above the norm?

Maybe it's another of these factors that may someday be identified as a

subgroup of effected people. I've heard all kinds of theories as people search

for " the cause, " older mothers, older fathers, RH-, flu-shot during 1st

trimester, gestational diabetes, etc.

I think someone asked us this before. I am RH- and

had rogam with all of my kids. Only one has autism

though. I think it is just one bean in the bucket of

beans that causes it. Too many beans and it will fall

over. The system can only handle so much!
