I've seen multiple types of propane powered equipment - including floor polishers - emit in excess of 1000 ppm CO. About a year ago, we found two daycare facilities with 70 ppm CO more than ten hours after an overnight crew buffed the floors. Although the floor maintenance company had a policy of checking their propane powered equipment for CO, their CO meter hadn't been functional for more than a year. Many newer homes are nearly gas tight and not designed to accomodate ventilation for these types of devices. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
