Subject: Re: Re: wooden furniture outgassing: mold growth in mattresses , This is really interesting about potential mold growth in mattresses. I think this is a good reason to buy 100 percent natural latex mattress (which most latex mattresses are NOT, for the record -- many contain toxic synthetic foam latex mixed with the natural latex, so one has to be very, very careful). Latex is naturally mold-resistant. I have very severe MCS and found that, after enough outgassing, I was able to tolerate a latex mattress just fine (mine is wrapped with a thin layer of wool and cotton as well). They are expensive, but they do last forever (mine was a gift to me, thankfully). Peggy .. ..>>> Peggy Another option is to invest about $20.00 usd in 4 ounces of Tea Tree Oil which is a very powerful antifungal essental oil. It only takes a very few drops to kill off the nasties. Molds are fungii. Another use is to put several drops on the furnace filter every week for whole house de-molding. ANother low cost source that is easier 'dose controlled' is Milk of Magnesium (400 mg Mg per teaspoon). Lots of folks just put Epsom salt in their juice -- fruit or veggie -- or into apple sauce to disguish it's flavor. Many people with FMS and CFIDS are seriously Mg deficient. mjh http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

I take the magnesium glycinate forms which do not cause loose stools. .. .. ..>>> Mg glycinate is the high priced spread which many of us who are Mg deficient and with CFIDS can no longer afford. Epsom salt is a very inexpensive source. Smal amounts several times a day should get around the loose stools problem. Dose controlled Milk of Magnesia is another low cost source of Mg. 1 teaspoon = 400 mg Mg. Guest guest
MJH, I might have a problem of over active symphatetic system. I also have terrible insomnia.I think my para sympathetic nervous system is not functioning correctly. Do you have any idea on what might help this?Lemon balm does help. Do you know anything else? I also have another problem which might be cause of this. My left side brain feels a if it is swollen.I can not relax my muscles on the left side.My hands, arms, legs and every muscle on the left side is tight. So tight that I have continuos aches on left side. It got little better as I started taking borage oil but did not go away completely.Tolerable at this point but bothering. I might have some damage on right side of my brain.I sometimes think it could also be possible that left side of my intestines are also effected by this strange left side problem.Does that sound funny?Nil Re: epsom salt solution taste tealk Would you think mg glycinate have constipating effect or doesn't it have any effect on bowel movements.I have been taking mag only in glycinate form since more than a year time and I wonder if that could have an effect on my intestinal problems. Guest guest
I got a natural latex mattress & aired it out for a long time & then put a lot of layers of natural covers over them to keep any latex odor away from me. I am very sensitive & it has worked well for me
Guest guest
I recently read that more people are becoming allergic to latex though. So one has to worry about that as well. Doris
