" What can one say of a soul, of a heart, filled with compassion? It is a

heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and

animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of them

make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense compassion,

which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to bear the sight of

the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature. Thus they pray

ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the truth, and for

those

who do them wrong. "

I dunno, I'm still sort of partial to 's haikus. ;)

I've been ... errrrr ... busy. Among other things, I did some tree

pruning yesterday (sorry, Heidi, but the fig tree will recover quite

nicely!). Had another tree done by someone else this morning, and I'm

still staring out the window in shock that there aren't any fir branches

hanging down all over the place. Now I have a perfectly unobscured

view of ... my neighbor's shed. ;) Which fortunately is mostly

screened by a bramble patch populated by various small bird colonies and a

rabbit, which is why Da Boy is sharing that prime hunting ground with some

sort of smallish hawk.
