Guest guest
OK, that raises a much wider question for me -- What food items are supposed to induce detox or have detox properties? I recently found that several detox products have cilantro extracts in them. Now, we use a lot of cilantro in our cooking - it is a staple Indian flavouring in several types of foods. Should we be concerned about the food form of cilantro inducing detox? Also, how does one go about deciding whether to detox or not? What are the symptoms that call for detox? Thanks, Pratick --- Lane <humulu@...> wrote: > > > -- , > I'm not sure about a little kelp, but the Wachter's > organic sea vegetation tabs I use to sell years ago were noted for > sometimes inducing detox reactions in people, including mobilizing > heavy metals like mercury, so some people had to take it really slow > at first. > > > > > > > - In , Pratick Mukherjee > <pratickmukherjee@y...> wrote: > > Greetings, > > > > Does anyone know whether kelp has any detox affect or not? > > I ask because recently our naturopath prescribed a certain multi- > vitamin supplement for > > my wife and it contains kelp (and alfalfa). > > She is nursing our daughter, so if kelp induces any detox, then it > will all end-up in the > > milk. > > > > Any ideas? > > > > Thanks, > > Pratick > > > > __________________________________________________ > >
Guest guest
Pratick, Based on my personal experience, I would say that any diet of foods that are mostly raw, mostly organic and/or mostly from pastured aniamls is going to give your body the wherewithall to begin detoxing. If those foods are taken in moderation, the rest that gives the digestive system will futher strengthen your body for detoxing--just as it does in fasting. Given any support or encouragement at all, the body tries to heal itself. Having said that, there are herbs and also regular foods (e.g. blueberries) that can very much speed up a detox and also instigate a detox in a specific area (estracting toxins such as mercury which both cilantro and blueberries supposedly do). You could probably learn about these specific foods by simply using Google and looking for " detox " (or detoxification or detoxifying) and " foods. " I think the need to detoxify is pretty universal among those of us who have lived with external pollution and the internal pollution of processed foods.
