Guest guest
I happened to catch just a bit of an interesting story in NPR last night about a new book " Hungry Planet -- What the World Eats " by Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio. ISBN-13: 978-1-58008-681-3 ISBN-10: 1-58008-681-0 http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5005952 The authors interviewed and photographed 30 families around the world* about what they eat. They compiled lists of the food each family eats in a week and the costs. They also photographed all the week's food in one big spread -- comparing all those photos is very interesting! As it happened, I was near a bookstore just after hearing the story and so, confessed bibliophile that I am, I went right in and bought a copy. The book looks wonderful and I am looking forward to exploring it in detail. They include sample " family recipes " , but that is a minor part of the book. I am disappointed that in their brief recommended reading section they neglect to mention Dr. Price. * the 30 families were in: Australia, Bhutan, Bosnia, Chad, China, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greenland, Guatemala, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mali, Mexico, Mongolia, Philippines, Poland, Turkey and the US. Some countries have more than one family, for example, there are both rural and urban Chinese families. ....I can't attend the WAPF conference this year, so this book will serve me as a faint consolation for missing out. For those of you who are going -- enjoy!!
