Guest guest
Here's a take on local eating. With fuel prices rising, food prices aren't far behind. http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,1541268,00.html " As an experiment to see how easy it is for consumers today to shop while being food-miles aware, we both set off to a supermarket three miles away. As we travelled, we pondered: surveys suggest shoppers do want to buy locally, but is this just one of those vague aspirations, all motherhood and (local) apple pie? Could we use food miles to determine what we buy? Could we lower our " ecological footprint " by buying local? Two hours later, our answer was, " Sometimes, but certainly not enough.
