Intro- venturing into the realm of weirdness

I've been reading for a couple of days, and felt I should introduce myself.

I am a newbie to WAP, but definitely eager to learn!

Someone made a comment about how it is unusual anymore for people to utilise

more of the animal than just the muscle. I take advantage of that. It's

deer hunting season here, and we live in the national forest, so we have a

LOT of hunters around. I made some posters and put them up in the local

traders/game check stations, that I would like their " scraps " . What a way

to get fresh and free organ meats, bones, etc. Their trash, my treasure! I

tend to trust local wildlife meat pretty well- although it is very lean,

with exception of the bears. In a few days, as the deer start being

harvested, my kitchen is going to be one mess of bones, organs being prepped

to freeze, and simmering stocks. YUM!

I'm in Arkansas, I'm a 23 year old wife and mother to one (so far).

Although my diet while I was pg with her was inching towards WAP (from the

classic fitness recommendations of multiple meals-

wholegrains/highprotein/nofat)... it wasn't quite there yet, of course I

hadn't heard of it yet! Looking back now, I realise that my cravings were

probably related to that-- and they were very much WAP. I craved (and

subsequently found) raw goat milk, and what I don't tell many people for

fear of grossing them out- raw meat.... and not just any raw meat, but fresh

(like it was alive 30seconds ago) meat, that was warm and bloody. It was a

bad enough craving my husband shot a couple of doves and squirrels for me so

I could eat the hearts and livers- I fixed the rest of those meats later for

meals.

I'm suspecting I may be expecting again, in part because although my diet

has been creeping ever closer toward " pure " NT, I'm having those cravings

for blood and organs again. Although I know I don't have to worry about

parasites due to the amounts of tannin these critters eat out here, are

there other precautions I should take? Any idea why in the world I would

crave THIS?

Also, I'm psyching up to try some of the lacto-fermentation recipes. I

haven't got a source for raw cow's milk yet, still looking, and the goat

farm I got my milk from before is out, because all of their nannies are

kidding right now. Can I use my own milk? I have plenty after baby nurses

her fill. Or would that change how I would have to do things?

Thanks for hearing my weird thoughts, and any ideas/suggestions you may

have!
