Guest guest
- Welcome to the list! >Their trash, my treasure! You can get bear meat? <envious> >and not just any raw meat, but fresh >(like it was alive 30seconds ago) meat, that was warm and bloody. Good for you! Fresh is when it's the most nutritious. The same is true of milk -- right out of the udder or from the udder into the fermentation vessel is the way to go if you can. >Although I know I don't have to worry about >parasites due to the amounts of tannin these critters eat out here, are >there other precautions I should take? Any idea why in the world I would >crave THIS? Organ meats are by far the most nutritious parts of the animal, so just be happy your body gave you a useful craving! As to parasites and whatnot, I know you can tell whether a lot of them are there by looking at the organ if you know what to look for. Maybe some more traditional hunters could help you out? Or butchers? -

Weather colder killing parasites and deer gorge on the tannin, protein, fat filled acorns for winter fattening and parasite killing. Cold and raw doesn't agree with me like raw and warm either.
