Elaine,

I just looked it up and there are three remedies listed:

Cilantro leaf pulp.

Blend a handful of cilantro leaves with 1/4 - 2/3 cup water; strain

out juice and apply pulp to closed eyelids. Drink the liquid.

Coriander eyewash.

Steep 1 teaspoon coriander seeds in 1 cup boiling water at least 15

mins. Strain thoroughly and cool before using on closed eyes. Don't

worry if it gets in eyes.

Goat milk compress.

Dip a cotton ball in goat's milk and put over eye.

I had an on-and-off battle with conjunctivitis for a while after I got

my root canals. I found that emphasizing coconut fat and chicken

stock helped a lot, but I was battling a chronic problem from the

inside so it might be a different approach.

Any kind of hot compress helps, because often times the infectious

agent is heat-sensitive enough that a wash cloth with hot water will

kill it.

Eyebright also helps. You could drink it as tea, but also dip a wash

cloth in eyebright tea when it is hot and use it as a compress on your

eyes.

Some people who buy Russ Newman's products follow his advice to use

colloidal silver and MSM mixture for eye drops, although I wouldn't go

out of your way to buy some if you don't have any on hand.

Eyebright, both internally and as an eyewash.

note: the above message has not been approved by the FDA or the

alphabet agency of any country. Use at your own risk.

Looks like i'm fighting off pink eye in my right eye. Anyone have ideas how

to nip it in the bud before it gets full-blown awful?

==========

Colloidal silver. Drop it into your eye until the pink eye clears. It seems

miraculous. It's for real.

Last year one of my kids brought it home from preschool and we all ended up with

it. I treated it with goldenseal tea, diluted, as an eyewash. I had a friend

who recommended this, or chamomile as an effective treatment. The irrated

feeling was gone in about 36 hours, the appearance of redness in about 48 hours,

but I treated it for a total of 5-7 days.

Lets just say the FDA would discourage one from ingesting eyebright,

lobelia and a few other very effective herbs that have been used for

centuries based on some um...bogus studies.

I use a true hydrosol of rose to fight all eye infections. I just use

it as an eyewash and it works like a charm. A hydrosol is a byproduct

of essential oil production; often, people mistakenly call water with

essential oil added a " hydrosol. " A good place to buy hydrosols on

the web is www.av-at.com.
