Guest guest
This is so funny! We are just finishing our 1st summer session of summer school! Ok...here is a picture for you. Maverick went to a AugCom camp today. It was actually a speech therapy session for kids with augmentive communication devices. They were working on using them with the general public. Picture this: 40 kids with sp needs and " talkers " all descending on a Home Depot. Wouldn't you have LOVED to be a fly on the wall! Maverick came home the proud owner of a flashlight and a flower for mom and he and his speech therapist had a wonderful lunch at Mcs that he ordered on his talker. And you want to talk about hot....I'm sure you have heard about the wildfires... I think our 4th of July fireworks will once again be cancelled. Is your 7th grade in a Jr. High or with the 6th grade? Ours is just the 7th and 8th grade...which I would LOVE to skip!

Guest guest
, Youre right I would have love to seen them all " talking " up a storm! And amanda's middle school is 6-8th grade and whats very cool, is that since its a small school, they do many activites across the grades so everyone is included and everyone gets to know each other. Like during club- amanda's is dance, there are kids from all 3 grades and they all get along pretty well. For me it was huge because the 6th graders didnt feel threatened by the 8th graders, but learned to be their friends, or knew they could go to them in a time of need or confusion. Guest guest
Maverick is going to a camp called SOAR put on by the Jr. High for any incoming students. They only take 100 kids at a time..and it's 3 hours/day for a week. They just get to know the campus and talk about the agendas' and study habits and differences from their elementary schools. The Jr. High is VERY LARGE and it has kids from 5 elementary schools coming to it.
Guest guest
Hi , Congratulations! The DoD really IS wrong and you are correct, so if there's any way you can upgrade your discharge, do it. Consider it another injustice the DoD perpitrates on service members. Check to see if you have a " statute of limitations " or some sort of time window you have to file in. (Subtract three to six months from that to give your attorney time to prepare your case.) IF (when) the truth about the anthrax immunization finally comes out (and it becomes evident that the DoD was WRONG about its safety and efficacy), you probably then will have grounds to appeal for an upgrade. Meanwhile, please work along with us. You now have Documented Experience and can help others with similar problems. ======================================================================== ======== I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. ... Guest guest
Just got back from the midwife and I am most definitely PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just want to thank everyone for the knowledge I've already gained from all of you over the past few years; I truly feel blessed to know what I know about nutrition and a few other things like the continuum concept. It's nice to feel ahead of the game. I'm only 7.5 weeks along and of course I'm going crazy with the NT pregnancy diet, but I wanted to query you all on a few nutritional details. Even if you've never been pregnant (b/c of gender or circumstances), I'd still like opinions on the following: If you (or your wife/girlfriend/partner) were pregnant, would you (or would you advise a loved one or client to) eat: 1. High quality raw egg yolks 2. Raw or rare pasture-fed beef and lamb 3. Soft cheeses like brie and chevre (Sally says no) 4. Aged raw milk cheeses 5. High quality raw milk and/or kefir 6. Raw or pickled salmon 7. Raw oysters 8. Supplemental vitamins C, E, Folic Acid Also, how much CLO should I take? Currently, I'm taking 2 t. of Quantum (high vitamin) every day. in NYC

I ate all of these with my first pregnancy (long story on #2--I didn't know about NT with either) and she is incredibly healthy to this day. I might have also eaten raw egg yolks in smoothies and ice cream. Never liked 2 or 7 - haven't tried 6 yet but I'm dying to !! I did take a multivitamin while pregnant and breastfeeding but it wasn't a very good quality one. I'll probably do something like Garden of Life stuff when I'm pregnant with #2. > > Also, how much CLO should I take? Currently, I'm taking 2 t. of > Quantum (high vitamin) every day. Don't know. Currently, I'm taking 2 t. of Quantum (high vitamin) every day. in NYC Congratulations ! I've had 3 children; all pre-NT, but NEVER with a SAD diet. If I got pregnant again, I'd definetely do #1, 4, 5, 8. Raw beef/lamb would be OK if I knew the source very well. I'd stay away from brie/chevre just because I have heard of pregnant women getting sick on those. I don't know where you can get safe raw oysters now. And the salmon is a toss-up; the omega 3's are good, but again, you have to feel really comfortable with your sources to go with raw eating. As far as CLO goes, I've heard of studies that say greater than 7500 IUof Vit A per day has shown risk for spinal defects, but I don't know what the source of the Vit A was for those studies. They were done by some pharmaceutical companies trying to determine safe levels of Vit A for prenatal vits. IF I can find a link, I'll post it. Guest guest
Thanks, Rebekah. I know there are serious problems with synthetic vitamin A and there's a good chance that the study was conducted with synthetic. Do post the link if you find it. >As far as CLO goes, I've heard of studies that say > greater than 7500 IUof Vit A per day has shown risk for spinal defects, but > I don't know what the source of the Vit A was for those studies. Congratulations!! > If you (or your wife/girlfriend/partner) were pregnant, would you (or > would you advise a loved one or client to) eat: The only thing I would add to your list is a zinc supplement. People tell me that this makes for a baby that sleeps really well and someone else said it prevents stretch marks. I'm due any day now and have tried to eat NT but when/if the nausea kicks in, it gets a bit harder! So my advice is just be gentle on yourself and do your best. Things like raw liver, I really intended to eat regularly but sometimes I just couldn't keep it down. Ditto with CLO. My basic diet has been NT though. Just a bit slack with the supplements. When I had nausea, sushi was about all I could eat. Enjoy your pregnancy! Keep us posted and once more congratulations to you! Guest guest
Congratulations! Oh boy, this is gonna be one lucky kid with you as the mother. If I were in your place, I would only hesitate about 3 and 7 (soft raw cheeses and raw oysters). There's no reason to eat soft raw cheeses unless you can't live without them for 9 months. If you've got a baby on board you shouldn't be taking any chances, so just stick to aged cheeses. Raw oysters are loaded with zinc and good stuff but I myself got food poisoning from eating a half dozen on the half shell two months ago at Acme Oyster House in New Orleans. They had two guys shucking the oysters assembly-line style and I'm sure a bad one slipped in due to their carelessness. None of the ones on my place looked bad or tasted bad, but I wasn't paying close attention. If you get them live and shuck them yourself, making sure that none are dead and rotting, you're probably fine. Although I still would hesitate to eat raw oysters if I were pregnant. Plus, they are probably loaded with toxins in this day and age, living in our polluted waterways. Raw beef and lamb, heck yes. I would eat lots of raw bovine or ovine liver, but unless you're intimately aquainted and comfortable with the source, I would freeze it for 2 weeks before consuming. Guest guest
I had to take my CLO in capsules when pregnant. The taste and texture made me gag something fierce. Elaine
Guest guest
Congratulations, ! The only thing I would add to your list are organic blue berries and sunlight (plenty of it). Home-made ginger ale would be good too (without sweetner), if you can tolerate the taste without getting nauseous. It is supposed to help with morning sickness particularly. > 8. Supplemental vitamins C, E, Folic Acid Other than the folic acid, off the shelf vitamin supplements are not necessary. In fact, you are better off without them because they often contain trace amounts of harmful ingredients like gluten, high fructose corn syrup, etc. And if you are certain that you are getting enough folic acid from your foods, pass that one too. -Pratick Stay connected, organized, and protected. Guest guest
Is folic acid really necessary? I don't remember taking it my second pregnancy. Just ate lots of foods rich in it. Had a strong, 10 pound baby so I think it worked out ok. Elaine > > Other than the folic acid, off the shelf vitamin supplements are not > necessary. Yep, that's what I said - if you are certain that you are getting enough in your diet, skip those supplements. However, if someone is not getting enough folic acid (for whatever reason), then supplementation is the only way because it is too important a nutrient to go without. -Pratick __________________________________ Mobile Take with you!
