I swear his eye tracking improved greatly from watching his little brother move all over the place. Max has 4 older sibling as well and now I am pregnant again. There is nothing like siblings! I will say this though, at the beginning of my pregancy with ... we were alittle bit nervous..and since our OBGYN did not know very much about PMG... they put me under the care of the high risk OB... just to be sure. They gave me extra folic acid..and I had more ultra sounds...and really... I think it was completely too much.. going to the dr every 2 weeks the entire time.. I was perfectly fine. But we joke to this day...that because of all the extra nutrition..we overstimulated poor little .. who was born... 11 pounds 12 ounces, 23 inches long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes ladies, I had a c section for that puppy. was healthy, strong, and from the very beginning... very independent. He learned how to walk pushing 's wheel chair...and actually, I think it impaired him a bit..he got lazy!!! BUT the point is this... is a gift beyond words to his brother... Where big sister is loving and caring and mothering... Little brother is goofy, and runs around the house making race car noises and coloring himself with markers.. laughs and laughs and laughs. 's strength was a clear affirmation that there is nothing wrong with the world...and life continues to pour blessings.... each blessing unique and wonderful. So... if it makes you feel better to take extra precautions...then talk to your OBGYN... I chose not have a single " test " done... I simply chose to be as healthy as I could be, if not alittle bit more so. I was also older, and had been through 2 other pregnancies, and had a disabled child at home...and I was working full time at the time. You are lucky... I loved being pregnant.. except for the 12 pounder which freaked me out... he was such a big guy...still is... the tallest and biggest kid in Kindergarten. is 30 POUNDS heavier than his big brother.. is 40 pounds, is 70. Til this day Max just think's Linus is the greatest. On a sweet side, Linus at the age of 18 mos would go over and wipe Max's drool, pick his head up, etc.....so sweet and loving. A seventy pound kindegartner? WOW, ! No one will ever mess with when big brother is around! Another plus to having siblings. So many activities and places to be!!! You must be very organized.. but I love kids, if I could afford it and my husband could handle it.. we would have a boat load too. I turned 40 this year, and we have still not completely ruled out more, it's just that they need so much...and my daughter is so active in music, sports, volunteer work, etc. On top of 's issues.. it would be hard. I have to give so much attention to , and and ... that I sometimes feel spread out too thin. But who knows... I do think you are amazing... I am so sleep deprived as it is... I really dont know how I could be pregnant and healthy...with all the stress we go through in the hospitals etc.. it has been a big subject, because I do have very large babies...and it does significantly ALTER me for a period of time. lol. I have a little girl with a very rare chromosomal abnormality called 1p36 deletion syndrome, her brain abnormalities are just one of the many symptoms associated with her syndrome. When I was pregnant with my second, I opted for a new test called a nuchal translucency test...it is an ultrasound/blood work (your blood) done at 11 weeks gestation. They say it is 80% accurate for finding certain abnormalities. You could also decide to have a CVS (chorionic villus sampling). This test is a bit more invasive though and has some risks associated with it. With this procedure, the obtain cells from the baby by inserting an instrument into the vagina. They also do a level II ultrasound with this test. I believe this test can be done as early as 10 weeks gestation. Then, of course, you could opt for an amniocentesis. This test is done a bit later, closer to 16 weeks gestation (if memory serves me). With this test they obtain cells from the baby by inserting a needle into your abdomen (it not nearly as painful as it sounds, I promise They also do a level II ultrasound with this test. This test also has some risks associated with it (although less than the CVS). If you decide to do either the CVS or the amnio, I would suggest having your perinatologist add on a test or two, especially the FISH test. This test looks at the chromosomes in much more detail than just a simple amnio and looks for any chromosomal abnormality that might be there (like my daughters...my amnio came back perfectly normal). There is also a newer test that can be done called an ARRAY...I cant remember if this is done before or after the baby is born though. Your perinatologist will certainly know. To my knowledge, a level II ultrasound is the best test they have to find brain abnormalities and structural deformities. I hope this helps...good luck. Take it from someone who has been in your shoes...Enjoy the pregnancy, dont stress yourself out about all this stuff! Your doctors will help guide you through the process...leave the worrying up to them!
