Guest guest
Carver gets bolus fed with 165 ml of formula and 135 ml of water at each feeding. Our nutritionist recommended the feeds should last at least 20 minutes. Usually with everything that is going on in the house they end up being about 45 min. which is OK. We usually keep Carver sitting up for at least an hour after a feeding and he sleeps with his head elevated to limit potential reflux. Carver has had the Nissen procedure, but why take chances? Reflux can be very serious, from aspiration, to eroding the enamel of the teeth. Spreading the feeding out lowers the risks of this happening. and Carver Hickory, NC _____ From: polymicrogyria [mailto:polymicrogyria ] On Behalf Of b_chlo Sent: Sunday, December 10, 2006 2:33 PM To: polymicrogyria Subject: Gastrostmy feeding Hi to all of you old hands out there. Our daughter has just (2 days ago) had a g-tube fitted. What I want to know is how quick a 150ml feed should take. Is a few minutes OK, or is this too quick? Or can it be too quick?
