Guest guest
My letter got published today in the San Francisco Chronicle opinion section. They even excerpted from it on the mail page. Here's the link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi? file=/chronicle/archive/2005/05/08/EDG2NCK4C81.DTL And here's the cut and paste: " Your Insight section May 1 devoted six pages to health insurance without a single mention of alternative health care or diet/lifestyle modification incentives. When the most-often-prescribed drugs in the state are digestive aids, anti-depressants and sexual aids, is it any surprise that some of us want out of a behemoth medical establishment that relies far too much on big pharmaceutical companies to medicate after the fact? Rather than paying huge insurance premiums, some of us would rather use our dollars for alternative health providers. We'd rather pay for preventive measures like gym memberships, yoga classes or simply organic whole foods. Catastrophic health-care insurance should be all that's necessary. Doctor visits could be paid out of pocket with the savings on premiums. In addition, I'd gladly chip in to pay for both traditional and untraditional health care as well as medicine for all kids under age 12.
