Cyndy,

I don't have experience with this yet, but I am planning to start

trying to conceive soon and will be facing the same dilemma. You

will have to make your own decision based on what feels right, but

for me personally, I will not be giving up any of my raw foods (milk,

meat, cheese, veggies). My mom has already told me about warnings

she read in a magazine for pregnant women to avoid raw & undercooked

foods. I take them with about as much faith as I do most of the

other medical recommendations (little to none). I follow a NT diet

with a strong leaning towards rare, raw & fermented food, and I

mostly avoid grains. I plan to keep eating this way as long as it

feels right. Just my opinion.

I am by no means an expert but I did have my first baby in August

2004. I ate raw dairy, drank kombucha and ate fermented veggies all

through pregnancy through now (I'm breastfeeding). I also read many

warnings but decided to follow my own judgment. I do eat some grains

but mostly they're soaked like for pancakes or waffles. I love my raw

milk and won't give that up for anything !

Good luck

Hi Cyndy,

Have you had the opportunity to discuss these issues with other mothers & /or

health practitioners in France?

Mmmmm...I lived in France for two separate school (undergrad)

years...I remember the food well! drool...:)

In response to your question, I am now almost 37 weeks pregnant with

my first, and while I did give it some serious thought at the

beginning, right from the start I went with my intuition - it just

felt right and good to continue consuming my raw milk and cheeses,

rare meat, and runny eggs - hey, even the half glass of unpasteurized

beer a few times. Like so many decisions along the process of

pregnancy and beyond, it is such a personal choice - I hope you find

solutions that you and baby can be happy with! All the best!
