The role of nitric oxide.

My mind and body have gone through some big changes over the past year or two. I

think these changes and what caused them might bring some insight into what

happened to me.

The first major change started when I took fish oil. I took it because I was

desperately looking for a natural remedy to combat my depression and help my

sexual dysfunction.I also had very bad cognitive issues that I wanted to cure.

After taking fish oil for some time I noticed my emotions completely flattened

while my cognition improved. Cognition was a huge problem after medication and

this area improved by lifting brain fog, speeding of thought processing and

improving my ability to express myself. I also noticed that my erections were

improving over the long term, but libido went down. I was dealing with these

cognitive issues for years and now they're suddenly much better. I would have

been thrilled if I wasn't completely numb emotionally. I stopped taking the fish

oil, the feeling was unbearable

This summer I noticed I felt more normal then I ever have in regards to

personality and cognition but my mood was always shit. I went out and socialized

every day pretty much to get over that blah feeling that never went away. I

noticed eventually I started to regain some emotions, whether it was because I

was drinking every night, or using adderall regularly, I don't know. . I noticed

when my emotions came back my sexual dysfunction came back. Just like how when

my erections improved my emotions became numb

Currently, I'm back at school and I had terrible problems sleeping. I decided to

take an l-arginine supplement which is a precursor to nitric oxide. I noticed

the next day erection quality was back but emotions were completely gone,

especially when it came to anxiety. I also noticed that my brain fog was back.

Weird things use to happen to me like I would get bad brain fog when drinking

caffiene and when taking serotonin supplements. When I went on fish oil this

went away tremendously and 5ht and caffiene actually helped me. Now that I took

l-arginine this brain fog is back and now i react to these supplements how I did

before the fish oil

It seems when one thing gets better, something else goes wrong. L-arginine and

fish oil both interact with nitric oxide. So do antidepressants. I'm not sure

where I'm going with this but when I took l-arginine and experienced these long

term changes, it made me investigate the role nitric oxide may play. I've taken

many other supplements and known of them have induced these type of long term

changes. nitric oxide also are linked to caffiene and serotonin as well as many

other processes.
