Can our resident experts please chime in about whether this is worth a try? Subject: Upregulate 5ht1a receptorsTo: SSRIsex Date: Monday, December 13, 2010, 6:11 AM

I was just looking into depression treatments lately, and what I could do, particularly for the hippocampus.

Curcumin upregulates 5ht1a receptors. There are lots of references. The first one I saw:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17617388

Running may help as well

This running could explain why some people have recovered doing lots of sports.

I did a little research on the last author of this article, Ogle (the

lead professor is always the last author). He is a professor at the University

of Florida, Gainsville. Interestingly he did his post doctoral work with a very

famous professor who is faculty at Stanford: Dr. Sapolsky , who has done

much work on stress hormones and the brain.

Anyhow Dr. Ogle looks pretty legit and this paper looks legit. I would go ahead

and contact him if you are interested. His website is

http://genedynamics.bme.ufl.edu/

I will look over the work in more detail and see what I can figure out.

Remember just because it increase 5ht1a receptor numbers does not necessarily

mean it can cure PSSD. However the fact that it helps stimulate neurogenesis in

the hippocampus is promising. This is part of the brain involved in memory and

I know many on here have noticed not just PSSD but a decrease in memory.
