Guest guest
Hi, Have you ever considered natural antibiotics. The reason I ask is because Amoxicillan and other man made antibiotics aren't good for anyone. Not only do they kill the bad bacteria, they also kill the good bacteria which can lead to gut problems...leaky gut syndrome... I've also heard from a friend of mine that it takes quite a while to get the gut flora back to normal after taking man made antibiotics. Plus, the natural antibiotics are cheaper anyway. Oil of oregano is a great natural antibiotic. A good quality oil will last you for a LONG time. I have a bottle and it's lasted for at least 6 months so far and we still have half a bottle left! Food for thought anyway. Guest guest
Hi Sue what do you need the Amoxy for? If it's ear infections, a GREAT alternative is garlic/willow oil, and I know some people have also used garlic/mullein oil with great success. For my kids, a few warmed drops in each ear, plus a little cotton to hold it in place can clear up infections faster than Amoxycillin. Much safer, much better. You can find it at the health food store. take care Rene -- In , " Sue " <invisigyrl@y...> wrote: > > Does anyone know of a brand of Amoxicillan that is dye-free? >

Only very rarely does a generic distinguish itself enough from the others to be recognizable. There are over 1100 manufacturers of amoxicillin worldwide, so me tossing out a couple generic names isn't going to help much. All brand-name amoxicillin (Amoxil, from GlaxoKline) is coloured. Almost all oral antibiotic suspensions are coloured and flavoured to coax children to take them. All capsules are printed for identification purposes, and most are coloured. Could you pull the capsules apart and take the contents in applesauce? Capsule contents are usually colourless since the drug is hidden in the coloured capsule. Alternatively, you could call around pharmacies and see if anyone stocks a generic that is plain white tablets. Generally, tablets are also cheaper than capsules, but commercial amoxicillin caps are pretty darn cheap. It's the labor and customization you pay for at the compounding pharmacy. Do you have any prescription coverage? If the compounding duplicates an existing product because of specific patient need, often you will get some reimbursement from insurance. -- Persi M. Guest guest
Hi there - we do use a compounding pharmacy. Do you have insurance? Ours covers even the compounding pharmacy. It's also more than just the dyes. Amoxicillan has aspartame in it. Try and get it as pure as possible, usually compounders are the best for that. Guest guest
I need the amoxy for chronic Lyme disease. I have been ill over 30 years, and almost bedridden the last ten. By almost, I mean it is difficult to do more than one thing in a day, like shower, or cook, or go to store. I was able to dramatically improve on antibiotics, Doxycycline for a year, cilantro for metal chelation and EPA (Fish oil). I would like to continue to improve. I can now do 2 things or more, a day. I am afraid that oil of oregano and the like, will not help much in this case. I have tried them all and at best they work short term. Probably great for your kid's ear infection or sniffles, but not chronic borreliosis with significant neuro degeneration symptoms similar to Parkinson's. *S*
