I need to do all this! in order of importance: - adequate water - lots of green veggies - omega 3 oils - don't overeat starches (my downfall) - barrier-type lotion - NOT artificial moisture even good natural ones like coconut oil. I just love " Gloves in a Bottle. " They are the first product that really works for me and it makes sense to me when they talk about how adding artificial moisture a) doesn't get to the lower skin layers and sends the wrong signal to the skin's moisture regulating system (says it's okay when it's not). Guest guest
Amd I really like Eucerin - the original cream formulation - really, really thick - mostly lanolin. I've used pure lanolin, but it is a bit sticky. Guest guest
what is " Gloves in a Bottle " ? does lanolin is 100% natural? does lanolin can clog pores? (cause the advantage of coconut oil is that it doesn't clog pores.)
Guest guest
I prefer to spread on my skin thing that I are not toxic to eat. This is my test for it the substance is safe. That's why I would like to put the coconut oil or something similar. Is there is a way to make to coconut oil get more absorbed?
Guest guest
> > what is " Gloves in a Bottle " ? you can find out about this at www.glovesinabottle.com. Sounds like it wouldn't work for you. they have a really great ingredient list and one of them is synthetic. I used to go for lanolin or Eucerin or other heavy-duty creams that supposedly absorbed. but I like this better. It doesn't bother me that it's not meant to be ingested but only stay on the surface of the skin until it wears off naturally.

Guest guest
Connie, I find that moisturisers for the body and hands don't penetrate my skin - it just sits there and I end up washing it off, because water does that:) Do the Eucerin/Gloves in a Bottle penetrate or... how do they work? Guest guest
, Where does one get THIS? There are some good testimonials coming here, and my hands are like sandpaper in winter. I used to get great lanolin products (also for diaper rash) in South Africa, but haven't been able to get really great FEELING lanolin products here. And the shea butter and lavender? Guest guest
The best brand I have found is Lansinoh lanolin. Yes it is 100% natural. It is derived from wool so do not use it you are allergic. Many don't have trouble but to be safe it is not recommended. Lansinoh is a pharmaceutical grade so it is 100% pure and even edible. The main use is for dry/cracked nipples for breastfeeding mothers. I have used it for many other things including dry skin, burns, cuts, scrapes, diaper rashes, etc. It is a wonderful soothing product. Another great product I have found in moisturizers is shea butter. I love my shea butter & lavender hand lotion. I also have a great shea butter & coconut lip balm. Guest guest
Hi chapped ladies!!! I'm also a chapped hairdresser in Michigan, who suffers every winter between the harsh weather and constant shampoo/water.I've tried all the products you've discussed and found one better. My neighbor sells Melaleuca's Natural products and I'm HOOKED on thier RENEW Intensive Skin Therapy. It's similar to Gloves in a Bottle, only it's also softening, not just protective. It does have petroleum USP, but it's so worth it. http://www.melaleuca.com/ps/index.cfm?f=ps.productDetail & pid=360 & pType=1 I also use Coconut oil on my body after every shower. I use it on my face up to three times a day. This winter, I plan on applying coconut oil to my hands first, then follow with the Renew. One of the ladies mentioned it not absorbing, but I'd have to guess the application is too heavy. I rub it in, not on, like Suntan oil. I never have a problem getting dressed immediately after applying. Also, I found that handsoaps, like shampoos, can be too drying in the first place. My favorite new soap is Kirks. I use it on my whole body, including my face. I've always been extremely sensitive, and this is the first time in my life, I can use a combination that doesn't over dry or break me out. GREAT STUFF!!!! No Sodium laureth sulfate. http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp? itemID=12033 & itemType=PRODUCT & iMainCat=4 & iSubCat=165 & iProductID=12033 & se archid=inceptor Melaleuca also sells a shampoo that is coconut based, vs. Sodium laureth sufate. I use Naturals, Herbal forumla. It is highly concentrated, and lasts forever. Does wonders for fine, fly-away hair. Just my hairy opinion! Guest guest
Try jojoba oil. It seems greasy at the beginning, but just for a minute. My skin absorbs it great. ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Thu, 03 Nov 2005 18:47:37 -0000 From: " cbrown2008 " <cbrown2008@...> Subject: Re: dry skin- coconut oil don't get absorbed > > my skin is extremely dry and even cracking. > > I don't want to use synthetic creams made from petrochemicals. > > I tried spreading coconut oil on my skin, but it does not get absorbed > into the skin. the skin remains oily, and instead my clothing absorb it > and it is wasted. > > What natural substance I can use, which will be absorbed by my skin. > > Or is there is something I can do with the coconut oil, so it will be > absorbed? > I too have very fair, thin, porous skin that cracks easily in the winter. Guest guest
I bought the shea butter & lavender one from a local mom who makes it. The lanolin is just the pure type from Lansinoh. I rub it on my hand before bed. If you make sure it is warm than it spreads easier. I find my hands & feet are dramatically better by morning. Guest guest
If the sheep are sprayed/dipped/whatever for fleas or what-have-you, would that residue make its way into the lanolin? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Canfield Jesus said the world would know Christians by our fruit, not our testimony. Proverbs 14:2: He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

Guest guest
Lansinoh is the name of the brand of Lanolin. I get mine at Wal-mart. Guest guest
I don't think that it would survive the processing. The type that I buy is pharmaceutical grade but I bet we could research and find out.
