Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with White Egret Farms in TX? Last

January, I ordered some of their probiogurt (24-hour fermented raw goat

milk yogurt). They said it would take 6-8 weeks. They charge your

credit card when you place your order.

It's now been 12+ weeks and I haven't gotten my yogurt. I've emailed

them and called them twice (left voice mails) and have gotten no

response. I am very frustrated, particularly since I've already paid.

Just wondering if anyone's ordered from them and what your experience

has been.

Thanks,

Hello,

I have an almost identical story. I ordered a case of probioyogurt

on 2-3-05 and was charged on my credit card. I have followed up 7

times over the last 3 months through e-mail and voicemail messages

and haven't received any response. I picked different extensions,

even left message on the presidents (Lee Dexter) ext. with no luck so

far. If you could assist with a response I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

, and anyone else,

I am contacting folks in the area about it. I will post up a general

response if I get some answers. You may want to go through other

channels to get a credit on your account if you don't hear anything

soon. This is unfortunate indeed.

I wouldn't expect anything different. They're running a seriously

backward operation (in terms of a business that's claiming/trying to

ship nationally). They're grievously understaffed. They don't even

have a Fedex account (due to serious mismanagement), so they have to

haul a truck full of boxes to a Fedex center and wait in line with

everyone else. Etc etc - their philosophy is great (minus the

overreaching toward national distribution when they're barely ready

for local distribution) but their business sense and organization is

about as bad as it gets.

You shouldn't ever expect a response unless you actually manage to

talk to someone on the phone. Even then it's unlikely.

I would also strongly recommend avoiding the meat they sell; stick

with the milk, yogurt and chicken/eggs. I know of several incidents

involving standard grain-fed meat being sold as grass-fed.

I haven't said anything about this on the list before, because I don't

want to put down two people who are genuinely trying hard to produce

good food. But several people have asked similar questions lately, so

I think it warrants a response from someone...

Sorry,

Yeah, that's understandable. But I have heard enough of this kind of

complaint, and we had them on the Metroplex WAPF website. We have

decided to post a warning concerning their business practices (scroll

down to 'W'listings).

Hopefully, we will find out something more. Please take the necessary

means to have your accounts credited if you have waited long for an

order without any response, is all I can suggest now, especially after

mentioned a policy regarding cancellations. Apparently, if an

order is not canceled in writing in ten days, then payment for unshipped

orders will be considered a donation (or something like that, can

correct me on it).

The information IS helpful to me though. Thank you all for your

comments. We want happy people eating good foods, and it is to that end

that we shall work.

Wasn't there a thread here before about the sloppy service they are

providing and that people should avoid them? Or maybe I read that on one

of the Jordan Rubin lists or something. Not sure but thought it was here.

At any rate, assuming they are good people, it sounds like they are over

their head and just not good business folk. Having a passion for

something doesn't necessarily translate to smoothly offering that

passion as a service.

Sounds like someone needs to help them get their act together, or they

will be out of business pretty soon.

Theresa,

Did you ever get your yogurt? (how was it?) Or, did you ever get your

money back?

Deanna,

You got it right. They say this on their phone message -- your credit

card will be charged when you place the order. You have 10 days to

cancel your order in writing. If you cancel after that time, your

payment is considered a donation to the farm.

Sounded suspicious, but I wanted to try the yogurt -- and want to

believe the best of people.

That's irrelevant. You aren't canceling, you are accusing them of defrauding

you. Contact your credit card company. They have every right to have a ten

day cancellation policy if it's clearly stated, but they have no legal right

to charge you for something they didn't send you!

Regardless of what they say, if you never got the product you have every

right to get your money back.

Marla,

I placed an order Jan 2005 and never received it. I called multiple

times and emailed them, could never get a call/email back and no refund

either. I've heard others have had similar problems. What really bugs

me is that they continue to take new orders -- how can they do that?!

I hadn't looked at the 2006 shopping guide, but I think I'll send a

note to WAPF telling them of my experience and suggesting they remove

White Egret from their guide.

Marla,

You know of other debiting before and not providing service besides you since?

Doing this to out of state customers violates Federal interstate commerce law.

Bank or credit card won't pursue it. Call your local consumer protection office

to file a complaint. You should be able to find their local Chamber of Commerce

online to report it to and to see if there are other complaints. Good rule of

thumb checking these out before buying or recommending any product or service,

these days. Shame such practices have leaked down into whole food market, where

it should be more likely that the quality care with food is the same care the

customer will get.

You have had to dispute the charges on your credit card?

Hi :

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know before I write to The Price

Foundation, too. We were also shocked that they continued to take

orders and debit the credit cards " promptly, " yet did not provide the

products or the service. My friend found White Egret Farm from Jordin

Rubin's book Patient Heal Thyself. I suppose I'll find a way to send

a note to Jordin Rubin, too, because he's also advertising for White

Egret.

Thanks again!

Thanks you guys. Actually, it wasn't me who ordered from Egret's. It

was a friend of mine who did. I don't see him often because he lives

in Michigan and I live in Calif. But we met a couple ago, and we were

discussing the 2006 shopping guide from Price and noticed Egret's on

there. So my friend told me about his experience. I asked him about

having his credit card deal with getting the money back, but he said

that the reason he didn't pursue it is because he (being a Christian)

didn't want to cause trouble for Egret's who also claim to be

Christian. Ack! And then he found out anyway that there was a 6

month limit when you could dispute charges on the card. So he lost

his $300 or $400 on that. Now this was back in July of 2003 and now

to hear that has experienced a similar thing in Jan of 2005!

That surprises me even more that they have been doing this for that

long and STILL are being advertised on the Weston Price 2006 shopping

guide. No one has brought this up before????

Yes, it's come up here before. Search onibasu for " white egret farms. "

Several people here have had problems. A guy on SCDInfo just ordered from

them several weeks ago. He was supposed to get his yogurt in a week and it

still hasn't arrived and he hasn't been able to get in touch with them

either.

I think Deanna took them out of recommendation for her local chapter. Why

it hasn't come up to WAPF, I have no idea.
