Guest guest
Hi! Just came across the 2005 version of " We Want to Live " by Aajonus Vonderplanitz. His earlier version seems to have rave reviews, but before I purchase it, was wondering if any of you had read any of his books and what you thought of them? TIA! - Ann

Guest guest
Hmm, why did you stop and how do you feel about it now? I think he's very eccentric and in his books he makes statements without backing them up scientifically. I'm not convinced that everything he says is right, but I find it hard to disbelieve the power all that raw food and raw juicing must have against terminal cancer cases. If I had cancer, I would definitely go more raw and juice daily. I think there is more to this than meets the eye and I hope that someone that is more scientifically oriented will become a beacon for other's to follow because I think many are turned off by the lack of science. People come to me who have cancer and ask me about where to get raw milk and what to do. I admit I tell them about Aajonus. I personally know a lady who's cancer has halted because of eating his way and my dental hygienist (who cured me of gum disease naturally when the mainstream guys said it couldn't be done) works under him and learns from him. He claims incredible success with people sick with cancer including himself. WAPF says we should eat a certain percentage of food raw. Does anyone know what that is? I know that Sally Fallon praised being able to eat some raw meat dishes while in Europe. I think raw food has an important place in the diet and maybe even more so for sick individuals. I personally try to eat foods like sushi, ceviche, etc. I also try to eat raw salads just to try to get the raw in there (goes back to that question about whether to eat lettuce or not). I also drink raw milk, cream and butter. I also put raw eggs in a daily shake. I also of course eat lots of raw fruit. On a daily basis I think about whether I've eaten very much raw food for the day and consciously try to fit that in. I also feel much better/more energy when I do that. Not that I eat all raw of course. I do eat WAPF, but with as much raw as I can muster, which is difficult to do. Helen Thoughts about Aajonus Vonderplanitz's books Hi! Guest guest
<<Hmm, why did you stop and how do you feel about it now?>> i'll preface with why i started. i'm self treating for cfs. i had done alot of supplements prior to starting the diet and they didn't improve my health. i had a strong intuition about aajonus and had remembered seeing him on tv many years ago. the diet seemed to correct the damage that taking too many supplements inflicted on me. the best thing about aajonus is not the diet, but that he is an amazing iridologist. he gav me by far the most accurate health diagnosis i have ever received. he found i was loaded with mercury, which i already had a suspicion about. but he also pinpointed the parts of my body where the mercury was stored. why did i stop? i felt a point of diminishing returns. and i was becoming very unbalanced. aajonus' tragic flaw is that he doesn't give much credence to any therapy outside his realm of expertise. i began doing liver cleansing after i stopped the diet and realized this was a much more effective way to detoxify... at least the liver. i think the diet has its place, but aajonus was very closed minded about the liver cleansing. i tried to educate/convince him that it was possible to pass stones from the liver and he insisted that it was waste from the intestines. i told him that i had been detoxing for many years before i met him and nothing resembling green floating crystals had ever come out of me. long story short, he is a fairly closed minded person although his diet it certainly a notable contribution to alternative health. i also think he projects a bit of his problems onto others, i.e. he claims he is unable to produce stomach acid so all meat must be raw. i have no problems with cooked meat and actually feel better with it. incidentally the detox reactions on this diet can be horrendous, life or death earth shaking experiences. i think this is why alot of people bail on it. But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.
