Guest guest
I know what you mean Mel, it is sooo humilating for them and I cant imagine how awful it would be to have it broadcast to Australia. I could never go on it (not that they would consider me anymore - YAY!!), I shudder at the thought that everyone I know would see me in such a raw, vunerable state, so publically.... but I also really admire their courage for doing something that I consider quite drastic (ie going on TV). It was interesting watching this year now i am a bandit, I kept thinking - surely someone should tell them about the band?!? There is a couple of really really young contestants this year, 18 or 19 from memory. I find it so hard to watch when they talk about how they have got to that point/weight.... I dont think viewers could truely understand that kind of pain that we all know and I know my skinny hubby doesnt get it.... I was sobbing so much i had to stop it and record the rest cause I couldnt watch it all in one go! I know that many of them dont succeed long term, but still, some of them do go on to win their battle, Have you ever come across Banded Andy's blog in Melb? He is now a personal trainer and he works with Adro from the first series! Ellen xx > > > > any one else a fan??? Guest guest
That is it, it is raw. I do know Andy and his work with Andro... Andro has been a wonderful success. I cannot even begin to imagine how desperate these people are to do what they are doing on television for the whole world to see. It just is an amazing head place that they must be. I often want to walk up to people on the street and say - hey, I have a secret... you too can do it. I saw a fellow the other day struggling down the street with his briefcase, well dressed - but must have been close to 200kg... I felt like shouting at him to go and see my surgeon - you can help yourself. But you can't do that. I will be interested to hear what you think of the contestants as the show moves on now. Keep me posted if they are doing ok. I just can't stand the bitchiness that goes on in that house - as if these people don't have enough issues without the producers and behind the camera people creating situations that cause anxiety and grief for these poor people. Ok.. you are our BL update person. Mel > > >> > > any one else a fan??? I find it so compelling to watch, but at the> > same> > > time totally heart wrenching and humiliating.... Guest guest
I wish there was a way to reach out/help others too, I see a woman at my station everyday and I think - I was her 8 months ago... Of course I would never say anything, and besides, she probably wouldnt believe me. I did meet a woman early on in my banding research and although she was a 'regular' size, she carried a photo of herself pre-banding which she showed me. I should really do that, (but cant bear to look at the pics!) Happy to update, although I have to keep up my 'BL only with exercise' diet first!! I too HATE the bitchiness and crap that the producers put on them, but sadly that is reality TV isnt it.... I would actually watch just to see the metamorphis of the contestants (and learn more about the specific eating plans/exercises that they do. Somehow though I dont think that Ch10 would get the viewers if it was just a weightloss challenge though! night-night xx > > > > > > > > any one else a fan??? Guest guest
I have to admit im a fan too Its distressing and compelling at the same time I cant help also but feel so sad for these guys n gals But also admire them And I also wonder why hasnt anyone told them the benefits of the LB We see various past contestants advertising many forms of weight Loss products after the shows They are still battling their weight Where my folks live In tassie Its a small country town down south I have lost count of the folk that are banded That's where my dear folks heard so much about it And encouraged me to take the same route Young ones and older ones Many have made the decision and all are looking fabulous Fit and healthy The BL contestants go through so much indignity and humiliation And I imagine only a small percentage will keep their weight off And lets face it this is not a normal way to lose it either They are pushed to extremes But I still watch.....every episode.....always have Hugs Leeanne -- Re: Biggest Loser - Mel That is it, it is raw. Guest guest
I can't watch the whole show, I feel their pain!! The girl with the face peircings and tatoo's is nasty. In the very first weigh in, one lady was going up to be weighed, and the nasty girl said 'good luck, you need it'. I do like to flick to it to see how they are going, but the whole show i can't do. Guest guest
Hi I watched most of the first episode on Sunday, but don't get home early enough from work to watch the nightly updates. And speaking of Andy and Adro. I've put my name down for their " Band Camp " in May so will be interesting to see them in action as trainers. Cheers Gail PS Has anyone seen the big black clouds over the city at the moment. I thought last night was bad enough when I almost got struck by lightning walking home from the train, don't want to leave the office today. Guest guest
Gail... the heavens have not long opened here... couldn't hear a thing for a while. Can't believe that I was out only an hour or so ago with the roof off my car. Must have flooded up the street = again! I can still hear the thunder and it is still back as. Mmmm.... Hope it isn't going to come through again. I can also hear sirens - I tell you - I am going to go into the blow up dingy business... I will make a killing if this keeps up. Are you going to Melbourne for the camp, or are they doing one here in Sydney? Quick... I gotta make a run for the shops... I think we are going to get another round. (must remember to put the roof on the car up before driving out of the garage - don't laugh, I did it last week and had to quickly go back in!). Guest guest
Hi Mel Yes the camp is in Melbourne. I've just spoken to Andy on the phone and he sounds really motivating. Will have to talk to him about hold a camp in Sydney some time. Now remember roof up!
