Guest guest
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this Keasha kolbemaurice wrote: Keasha, We looked into the diet when Max was 3 years old. Max aspirates and so cannot drink at all. At the time he did not have a g-tube and so the diet was not an option as they said he would be dehydrated. He got a g-tube at 4 1/2 because it was too difficult to get him to eat or get meds in when he would have seizures or was sick. We used it as a supplement to what he took in by mouth. This is something you may want to consider for your daughter wether or not you try the diet. For ourselves and Max it made life a whole lot easier. We weren't trying to seizure meds down his throat anymore, etc. If meds aren't working for your daughter then I would definitely suggest trying the ketogenic diet. There are no side effects and you can start as early as 18 mos. If it doesn't work your no worse off. If it works a whole new life could open up for your daughter. Or if it partially works than you still have improvement and perhaps stop the whole increasing meds cycle. Good Luck, Joanie __________________________________________________
