Anyone know much about rheumatoid arthritis? A close friend of mine

has just been diagnosed with it. She's 35 and has an almost 3 year old

child. Unfortunately I influenced her to become vegetarian when we

were 14 and then (happily) talked her back into eating meat when she

was pregnant at 32. She spent most of her 20s overseas travelling in

countries like Russia where she basically ate potatoes and apples from

what I can gather. I don't think she was a very sensible vegetarian

and it was difficult for her in all the 3rd world countries she spent

time in.

She once spent 3 days in a town like Chernobyl that was highly

irradiated and drank some water there - could this have anything to do

with it?

Both her paternal grandparents had it and were quite crippled. -

genetic?

When she was pregnant she was diagnosed anemic and took high doses of

iron tablets for the duration of her pregnancy. When her son was only

a few months old, he got some rare cancerous tumour on his toe so his

toenail and some of his little toe were removed. He's had other health

problems such as allergies, eczema, etc.

I'm reading The Untold Story of Milk now and it says there have been

links made between R.A. in children and milk (pasteurised). I've

suggested she go off milk altogether and start taking a cal/mag

supplement. Mercola.com also says to stop grains.

Well, I would be interested in any advice/thoughts from you

knowledgeable people.

Thanks,

Filippa
