Guest guest
has been on Keppra for several years now (he is 9) it has been the only medicine which has pretty much completely controlled his seizures. Occasionally he has had breakthrough seizures...very very rare...and usually it is related to a growth spurt or an illness. Unlike the other seizure meds...we do not have to get frequent bloodwork... and honestly.. have been very happy with it. He takes 4 mls at night, and 4 in the morning..he weighs 41 pounds.. Keppra is great because in our case anyways...it covers the full spectrum of seizures... once we got him off topomax... and exclusively on Keppra..he was more alert, and seemed back to his old self. Occasionally, he has moments of agitation where he seems angry....does some hand biting..but only once in a great while. But we are very happy with this medicine and its results for him. Good luck...I hope you have the same results... , Mom to age 9... Glenn Moses wrote: Hi Everybody, Has anyone used Keppra with their kids to help control seizures? Guest guest
Overall, we are very pleased with Keppra. It has controlled 's night time tonic clonics almost completely. We went through some rough periods with rages but they have subsided. I would recommend starting with a very low dose and increase it very slowly. Also, B6 should be taken with it. We use a 100mg slow release. It has helped with the behavior issues associated with Keppra. -Steve Glenn Moses wrote: Hi Everybody, Has anyone used Keppra with their kids to help control seizures? Guest guest
We started Keppra about two months ago. Since using that in combo with Phenobarbitol we have had some really good days meaning absolutely no seizures. Then there have been some days in which I wonder if I'm giving her water because it appeared to not have worked. Our dosage is only 1mL in the morning and 2mLs at night. My daughter is 9 months old. Guest guest
has been on Keppra for about a year. I would say the first 2-4 weeks were rough as we got his dose leveled out, he was very irritable and it definitely negatively effected his behavior. However, after the 4 week mark, he returned back to his " old self " and it has been smooth sailing ever since...no breakthrough seizures to speak of and no notable negative side effects. Hope this helps! Krista ps- Christy- if you are reading this, I can't believe Sam is going to be 16 in a week!!!!! WOW! Where does the time go?!?! Give him big birthday hugs from us.
