PS. I have a shut off valve for the water softener, so we drink hard,

but filtered water. I fill up the kettle and some pitchers with the

softener bypassed. We're talkin', this water is so hard, you can see

the stalactites growing on the faucets. If we didn't soften it, we'd be

replacing appliances like water heater, washing machine, dishwasher,

plumbing and fixtures often. Lots of calcium in our water. And you get

this coating on your skin, yelch.

I get most minerals in food, I don't know that this kind of hardness is

the best for drinking. NT talks about two TX counties being night and

day for hard water content, so I take kind of a middle approach. I am

not in the town of Mineral Wells, which is well known for its " healing

waters " .
