I'm just going to throw in a couple of random thoughts here.

I was drinking one large cup of coffee per day up until about 2 years ago.

Around that time I noticed that every time I drank coffee, my underarms

began to sweat and it was a stinky sweat. I didn't normally have stinky

sweat so I found this a bit alarming. I later found out that caffeine can

exhaust the adrenals, and I'm quite certain that's what happened to me. So I

switched to decaf which is at least 97% caffeine-free. I felt no withdrawl

symptoms whatsoever. I think I was more " addicted " to the aroma and taste of

coffee than to the caffeine.

Then, I when I had to finally go casein-free at the beginning of this month,

I continued to drink decaf for several days using coconut milk as a

substitute for cream. Blech! I really don't like the taste and texture of

any commercial coconut milk I've tried. So I just stopped drinking coffee

altogether. I began drinking ginger tea every day to replace my coffee.

There is no caffeine in it. I get a brand that's very strong and use 2

teabags for my large cup. It' has a real bite to it, which I love. (I LOVE

ginger in any shape or form.) Now I just drink it occassionally. I don't

even think about coffee except when it comes up in conversations like this.

I think I miss the *aroma* the most when I think about it, but again, I

hardly ever think about it except when others bring it up.

I don't feel tired at all. In fact lately, despite the oppressive heat, I

feel like I have more energy than when I was drinking coffee or decaf. I

don't know why this is, maybe because I've been taking adrenal support for

the past two years and maybe because I've removed two major allergens from

my diet (gluten and casein).

if you do give up coffee, perhaps you should take something to

support your adrenal function until your energy levels even out, assuming

that might be what is causing your energy drain when you don't consume

caffeine?
