Guest guest
Here's Mrs. Skeptical just saying thank to the ones who " consoled " me and told me that a feeding tube was a WONDERFUL thing to do for matthew and IT IS!! It wasn't as bad as when he had tubes put in his ears! It's amazing how well he did. I am already getting good at feeding (I might could do it in the dark. lol) I can already see a difference. He probably has gained already. I can't wait until his first check up. His tummy " looks " full now and his chest is not sticking out (his ribs showed). He's getting all his meds and his seizures are MUCH better. NO SIEZURES AT ALL DURING THE DAY, only 1 at nap and 1 at bedtime. (10 sec seizures) We can do " stuff " now and I don't have to hold a bottle in his mouth all day and Now I don't have to worry about him getting BUCK TEETH or aspiration pneumonia. lol I am still giving him drinks by bottle and a bites of food whenever he can handle it but if he coughs, gags or swallows funny the first time, I can just give it in the tube. Even the hole where the tube is not that bad, even with that long catheter. I can imagine it will be just great whenever he get the mickey. What's really neat is I can feed him while he's asleep if I don't think he got enough nutrition for the day. I had ran out of a med and by the time my husband got back from the pharmacy he was asleep so I just crushed and put in the tube. THis is a life saver,, literally. It took only 21 minutes. He didn't have to have the Nissin (he didn't have reflux so he didn't have to have the " longer' surgery where they wrap the stomach " . He is already getting meds through the tube. We were suppose to start giving some food through the tube and go home today but for some reason, it hasn't happened yet. It's hospital, and of course, that's the way it goes. He did really good. It was like getting tube in his ears or something. It even looks better than what i thought it would. Anyway, I thought I would updated everyone and thanks praying for him.. everything went just PERFECT. He didn't even cough or gag after cominup out of the anesthesia. That was a real miracle. I'll update my web page soon. Of course I have pictures!!
