Guest guest
Two weeks ago I picked up the phone and called Whitaker, journalist and author of the book "Anatomy of an Epidemic" which is about the autrocities of psychtropic drugs. He picked up on the first ring. I spoke with him for about 20 minutes. Interestingly is my call came in the day after Kaivey's email so he was already briefed on the topic of PSSD. At the end of the call he stated that the topic definitely needed to be looked into and brought to the public's attention. He took my telephone number and email. Yesterday I did a follow up email of which he responded. Below are both emails. Let's keep chipping away and hopefully we will continue to get more and more attention! H. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me a few weeks back about Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD). As I mentioned on the telephone there are many, many more sufferers of the condition than the pharmaceutical companies would lead the public to believe. I wanted to share with you some additional materials on the subject including some research and medical pieces done on the topic as well as some evidence of the devastating effects it has on the lives of those that suffer from it. For those of us that suffer from it there is the frustration of being ignored by the medical community as well as the fear of never finding a cure. As I mentioned on our call I am a member of an online community of ~2,500 sufferers of PSSD. (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SSRIsex/) I have included some excerpts from postings on the site that clearly show the impact on peoples lives. It is my hope to make this condition become more known not only in the medical community but also among the public. Millions of people take the SSRIs each year and are told that any sexual side effects will go away upon discontinuing the medications. They are not aware of the long-term consequences of taking the drugs. Even after multiple filed complaints with the FDA stating the problems upon discontinuing the drugs, the FDA, too, ignores the long-term effects of taking SSRIs. , any assistance you can provide in helping get the word out about PSSD would be greatly appreciated. In an effort to overcome the obstacles of the condition being blamed solely on "mental illness" I have attached documents and links (below) supporting the condition by respected researchers and medical doctors. If there is any additional information I can provide, or assist in finding, please don't hesitate to let me know. Once again, I appreciate your time. Guest guest
I am new here but from what I have read I think raising awareness is super important. When I went to my doctor he hadn't heard of PSSD and just tried to convince me it was in my head. So frustrating. > > > > So I was thinking, instead of fighting each other, lets work on > fighting PSSD and SSRIs. > > > > I was looking to see if there might be any doctors who would be in the > right place to help us.
