Guest guest
August 25th is very recent, and that is quite a high dose - it is possible that your body is still recovering from it just the way it would if you had been on it for a long time. Â There are people who come here afraid they have pssd after a few weeks off of SSRI's and then they recover - these people did not have real pssd, their bodies just needed time to bounce back. Â Obviously you are hypersensitive to these drugs, but it is too soon to call it pssd. Â I am not dismissing your experience, I believe you completely - I just want to encourage you that very little time has gone by since this happened. Â Â I recommend taking extremely good care of yourself right now - go running if you can, try to rest, do what you can to help your body recover normally. Â Â I know it must be terrifying to read about all of this, but it is just too soon to say what has happened yet, you could be fine very soon. Guest guest
Noone understands what and how PSSD damage is done. 50 mg isnt high dose, Zoloft is mostly used in 50-200 mg doses. We cant guarantee You will start normal, but even as a PSSD sufferer I must say most probably You will bounce back soon, dont stress yourself too much thinking it all. > > > Subject: PSSD after one pill > To: SSRIsex > Date: Monday, September 6, 2010, 8:17 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, i am affected by pssd after just one pill of zoloft (50 mg). Guest guest
Are you exercising? Maybe this will help your body recover sooner, going running for example? drinking water. Being around people and trying to relax... I know it's not easy... but if you hadn't found out about this on the internet you would probably not be scared right now. you would probably think everything will be fine. exercise will maybe release stress on a physical level at least... Guest guest
See if I got this right. You took one pill of Zoloft and now you have PSSD. That is unlikly. Please note that you were prescribed zoloft probably for depression. Your lack of libido could be due to your depression. Do everything else before using antidepressant. It is only 18 days and from the what you are describing your stress is adding to the problem. Check Vit D fish oil exercise (agressive). Pay attention to mood elevation after exercise and your preception toward your issues.Build on that. excellent diet. Guest guest
Adil in a post below said it took 7 weeks to see improvement. Â You have had only a month. I know how terrible this is - but some people take a few months to get back to normal I think. Are you with a girlfriend? Â If you can find somebody just to be close to in a nice way I think this could help the brain recover more. Â Somebody who will make you feel comfortable and not pressured. Â I agree that quitting suddenly is not good, I did the same thing. Â But you only took one pill so it's hard to think of that as 'quitting'. Guest guest
Update (hormonal tests): Prolactin is high, TSH is high, other values are in the health range. Everybody here know the cause of an high prolactin, for the TSH i guess an hypothyroidism that can explain other symptoms. Can i hope lowering the prolactin i can fix my SD? > > Hi all, i am affected by pssd after just one pill of zoloft (50 mg). Guest guest
Low dopamine will cause high prolactin. It can also affect the thyroid. Since the start of my PSSD I developed hypothyroidism which I did not have for the 1st 45 years of my life. If dopamine is brought back up both are supposed to come back to normal. > > > > Hi all, i am affected by pssd after just one pill of zoloft (50 mg). Guest guest
High prolactin is considered a result of reduced dopamine level. A cycle of dostinex/cabaser will lower the prolactin and raise dopamine. 0.5mg every 3 days for about 3 weeks. Since you only took one pill, I'd say this is worth a try because I think you have a much higher chance of success than I did. For stimulating thyroid, there is a supplement you should check into called 7-keto-dhea. Where are you from? > > > > Hi all, i am affected by pssd after just one pill of zoloft (50 mg). Guest guest
No, unfortunately not. I did see improvement in many areas such as no more cold intolerance, no more achy bones & joints, lost a few pounds, etc. But, no change in PSSD. I am on complete bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for thyroid, testosterone, progesterone, pregnenolone, & dhea -- only needed since stopping the SSRIs. All are now in normal range however there is no improvement in the PSSD area. I truly think it is a neurotransmitter issue. Neurotransmitters are up the chain above hormones. Hormone replacement won't fix neurotransmitters but fixing neurotransmitters will fix hormone imbalance. (See the article I am posting today under a separate thread by a Harvard MD about Amino Acids and Neurotransmitters.) Guest guest
is it a subclinical hypothyroidism or a real hypothyroidism? Mine is subclinical, i don't know if it is worth start taking tiroxine supplement.
Guest guest
Your body uses the amino acid L-Tyrosine to make thyroxine. " L-Tyrosine is a direct precursor to Thyroxine, a primary thyroid hormone, as well as Adrenaline and Nor-adrenaline. Thyroxine has been found to increase metabolic rate and control growth rate. L-Tyrosine is a necessary amino acid in the production of neurotransmitters including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. L-Tyrosine also appears to have a mild stimulatory effect on the central nervous system. Patients with a Thyroxine deficiency have symptoms including excess weight gain, cold hands and feet, and decreased basal metabolism. L-Tyrosine has been found to assist in optimizing thyroid hormone levels, increased mood, concentration, and productivity. L-Tyrosine is used to treat conditions including depression or mood disorder, poor coping ability, fatigue, low sex drive, low metabolism, and drug abuse (when combined with Tryptophan). It can also improve endurance under stress and is effective as an appetite suppressant. When taken properly, L-Tyrosine can assist a sluggish thyroid and aid the dieter in losing excess, unwanted pounds. The suggested dosage for healthy adults ranges from 500 to 1500 mg per day. Guest guest
Not sure what the difference is. I was low in only the T-3 thyroid. My TSH and T4 were fine. By the way, I take 5,500mg of Tyrosine per day and it has not reduced my need for the T-3 as of yet. > > is it a subclinical hypothyroidism or a real hypothyroidism? > Mine is subclinical, i don't know if it is worth start taking tiroxine supplement. >
