Guest guest
Wow! Someone noticed that there's a problem with SSRI's! Where do we get 5-HT(1A) antagonists?  Hi, while looking for more information on our problem I found this: 5-HT(1A) receptor antagonism reverses and prevents fluoxetine-induced sexual dysfunction in rats. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19435548?ordinalpos=130 & itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum Is this of any use to us? -- "If we do not change our direction we are likely to end up where we are headed." Guest guest
This is an interesting abstract. The research is actually being done by Wyeth Research, which is a drug company that is now part of pfizer. These are new drugs being tested so you cannot get them today. It is promising though to see that there is current research going on to make meds to address ssri sexual dysfunction. Keep in mind these are for sexual dysfunction while on the SSRIs but it is possible they could help with PSSD as well. This was published in 2009 and is only a study on rats. Keep this in mind. These drug candidates will need to go through 3 phases of clinical trials once large animal trials are done too. They will need to be proven safe (at least moderately so) and effective. None the less its good news but I doubt you will see these available for another few years at least. > > Hi, while looking for more information on our problem I found this: > > 5-HT(1A) receptor antagonism reverses and prevents fluoxetine-induced sexual dysfunction in rats. > > http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19435548?ordinalpos=130 & itool=EntrezSystem2.P\ Entrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum > > Is this of any use to us? >
Guest guest
Guys... Don't try evry medication you can find. Also stop looking on the internet for the problem. Things DO get better, i'm an example of this. My condition was: a) Not beïng able to get a erection, could hardly masturbate No sensation at all, didn't even feel an orgasm. c) I've feeled lots worse after ejaculation. There is nothing of medication you can take to reverse the problem. I've tried: Wellbutrin, stablon, mirtazapine, moclobemide. Noting worked. Sometimes yes there is a improvement in some symptoms, but worsening in others. I can imagine you guys want to have sex. Try viagra, Cialis, Levitra. They don't alter the problem, but makes you able to have sex (this is what evrybody is stressing about). Now I can (after 12 mounths absent): a) Get an erection Feel some fun in masturbating c) Get a small rush of pleasure during orgasm. To answer your question: Periactin. It's a serotonin antagonist. Used for alergies & serotonin syndrome. Seems to help temporarly from what i've read. Maybe this + erectile dysfunction agent should give some relief > > Hi, while looking for more information on our problem I found this: > > 5-HT(1A) receptor antagonism reverses and prevents fluoxetine-induced sexual dysfunction in rats. > > http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19435548?ordinalpos=130 & itool=EntrezSystem2.P\ Entrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum > > Is this of any use to us? >
Guest guest
I disagree that what's stressing people here is the inability to have sex (and you must be speaking of men, since women, as we've been told, can lie back & think of England and thus "have sex"). I think everyone here wants their sexuality back: libido, arousal, physical enjoyment of intercourse, and bomb-shelter orgasms. Just because Wellbutrin, stablon, mirtazapine, and moclobemide didn't work for you doesn't mean one of those won't work for somebody. Also I disagree about not looking for solutions on the Web. Someone discovered Periactin on the Web, and you haven't rejected it, so even you must feel that Web research has some value. Ann  Guys... Guest guest
Everybody is stressing about whatever they have lost. We have not all lost the exact same things. The men who can no longer get erections, are suffering over this. A lot of people have lost their emotions as well... this is a complex situation, and very difficult for everybody to live with. I am a woman by the way. And this has been pretty tragic in my life so far. > > > > > > Hi, while looking for more information on our problem I found this: > > > > > > 5-HT(1A) receptor antagonism reverses and prevents fluoxetine-induced sexual dysfunction in rats. > > > > > > > > http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19435548?ordinalpos=130 & itool=EntrezSystem2.P\ Entrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum > > <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19435548?ordinalpos=130 & itool=EntrezSystem2.\ PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum> > > > > > > Is this of any use to us? > > > > > > > > > -- > " If we do not change our direction we are likely to end up where we are headed. Guest guest
That's true. Deep inside I know the only thing that is going to actually heal the problem is time. And yes I believe there are temporary fixes. I've read a lot of succes stories, and I'm hanging on to that. I may only speak for myself but the problem can be obsessing. I miss all sorts off fun stuff when my mind gets occupied with PSSD. Now i've noticed that my problem gets worse. Is it because i've started with 300mg moclobemide and 2,5mg of zyprexa/dag or is it because i'm getting more and more depressed or is it because i'm obsessing again about the problem, I don't know. This sertainly isn't due to the SSRI's And speaking like I feel now (not so bad actually ) I am going to get me some dostinex AND Periactin! (more like a hell yea i'm going to fight this creature!) Guest guest
Zyprexa is what triggered my ejaculatory anhedonia after 2 days of taking the 2.5mg dose. I have yet to recover and it has been over 11 months. I got off the cymbalta shortly after the zyprexa as well once I discovered SSRIsex while researching my devastating condition . The zyprexa caused general anhedonia as well. I have no normal emotional response or feeling to anything. I also feel no anxiety even though my entire life is falling apart around me. Please beware of zyprexa! Based on all I have been checked for over the last year it seems it messed up my hormones or how my livers processes them almost overnite. That's true.
