Guest guest
I spoke to Dr Goldstein last week to find about his approach, and also whether he knew anyone with similar expertise based in the UK.(Bear in mind that I know nothing about this and may easily have got it wrong, or failed to get the whole story in the 10 mins we spoke for. So experts out there, please correct me)His approach is pharmacological. He says that our sex drive is governed by three things:SerotoninDopamine Norepinephrine (Not 100% on that one but there was definitely a third)He has an agonist and antagonist for each, so six drugs. He then works with the patient to determine which combination of these gets the old man talking again.(If anyone is interested the website is http://www.sandiegosexualmedicine.com/, he does 15 minute introductory telephone calls and is a jolly nice chap) He recommended Dr Dean as a UK based practitioner of these dark arts http://www.sexualmedicine.org/Dean.asp.I didn't have time on the call to ask if a combination of these would be better or worse than taking SSRIs and whether there would be similar risks.
