Protein powder and weight gain is the most processed food I eat. I am doing k-bells mostly for overall fitness but would also like to gain weight. The debate: Protein powder advantage easy to digest protein and non bulk calories Protein powder con Processed, who knows where that milk is from, $ Real foods advantage I like old fashioned egg yolks, milk and cream Real foods con Kettlebells are a slamming workout - Maybe need that protein powder! Protein powder con: you need vitamin A to assimilate the protein. Vitamin A is in the fat of real foods that contain protein, like meat, eggs, milk, etc. Too much isolated protein can deplete your vit. A stores. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Guest guest
In addition to what Suze said, most " protein powders " are hidden carriers of MSG (hydrolysation releases FGA). Also, they are often sweetened with Splenda or Aspartame. Bottom line - they are a tasteless, meritless mass of junk food when compared to real food. You will spend a lot of $$$, and end up feeling hungry and dissatisfied. Sorry to sound so harsh, but I spend a lot of $$ on Atkins-style protein powders a couple years back. And felt exactly like that - hungry and dissatisfied. We are human beings - we need real food to feel " real " -Pratick --- jonathanpearl108 <jp2@...> wrote: > > Hello, > > I am into kettlebells and die-hard wild, organic, grass fed etc NT. > Protein powder and weight gain is the most processed food I eat. I don't get it. How does this differ from eating, say, meat? Any protein you eat will be hydrolyzed in your stomach. Chris

According to Dr. s it's the same, IIRC. Which is why he doesn't recommend fermented foods. Seems like some folks are intolerant of MSG regardless of the source. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc.
