Guest guest
Well... I am one of Steve's patients - of course I love him to death! You also have the grey monster to deal with down there - its never easy. But, rest assured, he will band you if you want it, and he will support you. I never see the dietitian ever... and he accepts that of me. I do however think you should do the support group. I haven't and I think that it is a good think to do if you can get to them. Guest guest
Well... make another appointment to see him. Go in and be honest with him and say that you do believe that the band will help you and you are prepared to work with him. See the dietitian whilst you are in the early stages for a couple of months, you never know, you might find it beneficial once you have the band. I cannot believe that he would say no to you just because the dietitian says no. Well... they did for my daughter, but she was 17 years old so Steve did listen to the dietitian, but she is now 20 and is getting her band in September she hopes. Go in, be honest with him. Tell him how distressed you have been, how miserable the dietitian made you feel and then ask him if he would please be prepared to do the surgery for you. If he won't then move onto another surgeon. I think I am going to start going to the support group meetings again... might help me keep on the straight and narrow. I have to loose 15 kilos by December - eeekkkk!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I like to call it esque - beautiful and curvy - bit of shape. My girlfriend always trains and has a hard muscley body - I think women should be soft and curvy - not all sinewy and hard. Oh well... that is just me I suppose - I would love to be slim, but I still want to be soft and shapely... my wish anyway. > > >> > > > > > > > > > > > Well... Guest guest
Hi Soul Girl, Mel's right - make another appointment. I'm also with Steve and i have only seen the dietician once - the original appointment. I tend to discuss any food issues with when I see her. I was 165kg when I started but now I'm down to around 140kg having been banded at the begining of December 07. I eat pretty much what I like but in much smaller portions - neither Steve nor have a problem with that. In fact has said that while I can still lose weight that way to keep doing it. When I hit a plateau is when I will have to start considering food choices, but while portion size is working to not deprive myself of what I want. Of course I am only losing between 0.5 -1kg per week but I am losing and Steve is pleased with this rate. Danna

Guest guest
-HI danna and thanks its nice to know othr people who know Steve and etc. I wanted to make an appointment with Steve but they wouldnt allow me unless I was dietitan first. So i had too. I Im fine with - she been there done that and seen it all and seems to keep perspective. Id dont know if theyd allow me to see him now at all. I think teh diet lady say I was mental cos I got upset with her. sad . Of course i woudl when she told me she wouldnt eb reccomending me. she didnt even try . she could have said' lets see if we can work out a few ideas to change a couploe of things that could not owrk for you' i dont think Im being unreasonable to expect this. yet today i feel guilty so much it all seems to much like the old diets we all tried for years and years. Im really ahev second thoughts.\ I agree with you re what your doing. I thought I could at elast start this way as i eat so much the small portions i know would have a BIg differnce and id loose weight for soem months this way before Id have to really be concerned re my drinks or lollies etc. but int eh emanwhile id probly be alredy doing btter with them too i find this reasonable and i would have loved soem support for all the changes im making in my life considewring my depression etc i see myself as brave yet all i got was put down and shown my lack. no encouragment or well dones. its sucks. anyway im rambling but thank you -- In SydBand , " Danna " wrote: > > Hi Soul Girl, > > Mel's right - make another appointment. Guest guest
There is a doctor in Newcastle that does it on the public system but I do not know any of his details. I have never heard of any Sydney doctors doing it on the public system. Guest guest
some of the other states do the surgery through the public lists - the number of paients is limited and the wait can be for years.
