Has anyone used a Vitamix Food dehydrator? I am considering buying

one but can't find any info on the web about one. My cheapo garage

sale Waring model gets used so much it's falling apart. Can anyone

recommend their favorite brand?

I use it mostly for granola and sprouted wheat. BTW, I just made

wonderful doughnuts made with sprouted wheat and cooked in lard.

Fully Weston Price!

Thanks!

Hi , my fave brand is the Excalibur. It's pricey but very functional.

I have just made my second batch of sprouted granola. It is delicious. May I

ask how you make yours? With mine I soaked rolled oats, sesame seeds and

flax seeds, then dehydrated, then crumbled. I mixed this mixture with

coconut oil, a little rice syrup, freeze-dried coconut, and a mixture of

chopped and ground nuts. Then baked at 350 for 20 minutes, stirring once.

Everyone loves it except my kids. I'm wondering how to make it more

kid-friendly (bubble gum and loads of white sugar, LOL)

I also recently soaked and then dried a 5 pound bag of spelt grains to have

on hand (i have a grinder). My big ambition is homemade tortillas and I

bought a 10 " electric tortilla maker but have not yet used it. My attempts

at homemade tortillas always fail. I just ordered some pig fat to make into

lard for the tortillas. May i ask how you do it? I hope to make a huge batch

and freeze. I hate buying them at the store.

Also, did you deep-fry your donuts? Are they sweet? I may try that although

I hate to use so much lard for deep frying. Can you reuse it? Is your recipe

from NT?

I have the nesco/ american harvest model w/ thermostat and I have no

complaints. I got the extra rings so I can fit a pyrex dish on the

bottom if need be. It's cheaper at walmart than AH.com.
