I definitely up the Vit. C and echinacea in the colder months.

Best supplement/vitamin when you're sick?

What supplement and/or vitamin is best when you're sick, or feel

yourself getting sick, like with a cold, flu, or some type of

infection? I'm already feeling my immune system struggling and it's

not even winter yet. Thank you!

I take high doses of Echinechea. People say that the standard doses don't

always work, but if you take enough, I think it does. I also use the mind

over body thing - saying, I'm not going to get sick! Over and over.... I

also drink a lot of green tea and eat plenty of foods that have high amounts

of anti-oxidants in them. I believe that you should be able to get all that

you need from food, instead of taking more pills. I do B12 shots which

greatly help with my fatigue and also my immune system. Drink lots of water,

adding orange, lemon and lime to your water makes it have a neutral ph and

therefore it won't go trhough your body as fast. I also like to eat comfort

foods, I find that helps. Hot soup, whatever you need. Lots of rest too!

Good luck!

Whitney :)

I also have my immune system being attacked already 3x's in 1 month! I've had

success w/Airborne as soon as symptoms start but also Sambucol which can also be

taken as a daily maintence for immune system. Can be found @local organic

stores.

Hey Whitney,

Where do you receive the B-12 shots and does insurance cover? If not

- how much are the shots normally? I've heard rave reviews on these

shots helping with fatigue and boosting the immune system, but I'm not

a fan of getting any shots. However, I'll do anything if it truly

helps me feel better!! :)

I've bought the Airborne and still haven't tried it. I'll definitely

have to try it! Thanks!

I agree with all these suggestions. I think the main way to avoid a virus is to

stay away from people who have them. If someone announces they are coming down

with a cold I tell them that my impaired immune system requires me to stay away

from them. I think a few feet is good but if someone is coughing or sneezing I

stay much farther away from them.

I also wash my hands with soap many, many times a day. Some people carry wipes

with them to cleanse the hands without water. Never touch a public bathroom

door handle with you bare hands. I always use a paper towel to grab the handle

after I've washed my hands with soap.

I think it's been years since I've had a virus. Of course, I don't live with

school age children who carry these viruses. Still, if you are around kids,

especially the smaller ones, wash, wash, wash.

Viruses are caused by contact with viruses.

Ah, I forgot, Zicam is supposed to help. I know people who use it when going to

an airport.

I get a prescription from my doctor and give myself the shots. It is very

inexpensive for the med and the needles. It's easy to learn how to do it

yourself. LIsten to your doctor about how often you need to give yourself the

shots.
