Guest guest
Great news! You may have already done this, but could you let us know how much B-5 and Choline you used - and what brand(s) you purchased? Also, why did you add the methionine - and how did that help? Congratulations! Every success really does give hope to all of us. -M > > Back in May of this year I started taking B-5 and Choline and had great results. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this. It gives me hope. I think for me, that it might be disconnected neurological pathways causing the problem, because I am a pretty healthy 54 y/o male. I exercise regularly, 80 push ups every other day, and 30 minutes on a stationary bike every other day. My testosterone level is above normal, so what else could it be. GNC has the Choline, and the B-5 I can probably get almost anywhere. I guess I will have to order Methionine online. But this is very encouraging. > > > > Back in May of this year I started taking B-5 and Choline and had great results. Guest guest
I'm linda, and I don't recall recommending this to mozart unless there was a specific sx/ supplement dis at the time. I typically recommend enzyme replacement therapy. Choline- This B Vitamin is essential for producing the important neurotransmitter acetylcholine and making phosphatidycholine, which is crucial for making the membranes of your cells. Choline improves memory, facilitates the movement of fats in the cells and regulates the kidneys and liver. Choline deficiency can lead to a hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Pantothenic acid (PA), a B-complex vitamin, is essential for humans and animals for growth, reproduction, and normal physiological functions. It is a precursor of the coenzymes, CoA and acyl carrier protein of fatty acid synthase, which are involved in more than 100 different metabolic pathways including energy metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids, and the synthesis of lipids, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, porphyrins and hemoglobin. Methionine is a sulfur containing essential amino acid and was first isolated in 1922 from casein and belongs to a group of compounds called lipotropics - the others in this group include choline, inositol, and betaine. It is important in the process of methylation where methyl is added to compounds as well as being a precursor to the amino acids cystine and cysteine Methionine is required for It assists in the breakdown of fats and thereby prevents the build-up of fat in the arteries, as well as assisting with the digestive system and removing heavy metals from the body since it can be converted to cysteine, which is a precursor to gluthione, which is of prime importance in detoxifying the liver. The amino acid methionine is also a great antioxidant as the sulfur it supplies inactivates free radicals. It may also be used to treat depression, arthritis pain as well as chronic liver disease - although these claims are still under investigation. Some studies have also indicated that methionine might improve memory recall. It is also one of the three amino acids needed by the body to manufacture creatine monohydrate, a compound essential for energy production and muscle building. so , the bottom line, these all assist fatty acid development and utilization, hormonally , detoxify and assist liver and kidney function. so that's how I think it helped him. enzymes would do it quicker I would venture to say. linda rn Re: B-5 update Does anybody have any more info on how much B-5 and choline this person took? Guest guest
I have reposted below my original posts for those of you that missed them or have questions about dosage etc. As a further update the last week has been incredible, I achived an orgasim on three out of the last 5 days, I did not attempt sexual intercourse on the second and fourth days, and on the 3rd day I was multi-orgasmic within 3 hours, it has been 40 years since have been able to achive that!!! Besides my regular regimin of vitamins that I have been taking for over 35 years I have been taking 500 mg of Methionine, 1000 mg of Arginine, 500 mg of Ornithine and 500 mg DL Phenylalanine every morning for about 3 months. I have no idea what to attribute my turn around to, but I sincerely hope that this info helps someone else. B-5 / Choline up-date… or 61 going on 17 !!!!!!!!!! Posted by: " Mozart " gman506@... mozartvoncrow Tue Jun 30, 2009 3:53 pm (PDT) B-5 / Choline up-date… or 61 going on 17 I hope that this info helps someone avoid the 10 years of sexual frustration that I went through. It has been a full month since I started taking B-5, Choline and Arginine ; (See below) the results are so far off the charts that I have to wonder if this can last. Today was an astounding day, my girl friend and I had sex three times; after lunch I had an incredible orgasm, we then went for a bike ride and a swim then had a second session where I had four more orgasms in about 30 minutes. After a short nap we went to a rock concert but left early to go home and have sex again, no orgasm but an enjoyable session never the less. The sex keeps getting better and better. I was always very sexually active before the SSRIs but I do not recall anything close to what I am experiencing now. During the last 30 days we have had sex on twenty-five days, often more than once a day. I reached an orgasm about every other day. The erections last for 10-30 minutes and are very firm. We have been dating for 15 months, in the first 4 months I was unable to achieve an erection. Using various sexual stimulants such as Ejaculoid, horny goat weed, etc. in the months following I was able to reach orgasm about twice a month, but the erections were not very satisfying and generally lasted for less then a minute or two, there was not much feeling. I have not had libido issues only a lack of erection and feeling. I am 61 but I feel like a 17 year old sexually and the B vitamins have given me an enormous amount of energy in general, I am getting a lot done, very much like when I first took Zoloft. My brain is flooded with endorphins from all the sex and it is hard for me to sort out which is the chicken and which is the egg but I have never felt better in my life. As Fred Flintstone used to say… YUBBA- DUBBA-DOOO !!!!! AMP My original post: Feeling returned great sex experienced I was formerly subscribed to this forum but have not read or followed it for several years but I have come across something that may be of interest. I would welcome some of you to try this and see if you get the same result that I do. I took Paxil and Zoloft from 1993-1996 and lost 95% of the feeling in my penis as a result. I was still able to have sex but I was doing it from memory, there was very little sensation. I am now 60 and had just about given up the idea of ever having a normal sex life again. I was able to have an occasional weak erection about once or twice a month using a product called Ejaculoid but it did not work every time I used it. I recently found an article on an internet form after reading about how B-5, Choline and the amino acid L-Arginine are used in the treatment of Alcoholism to restore the neural pathways in the book " 7 Weeks to Sobriety " , (see link below). As an aside I do not consume alcohol on a regular basis. This got me to thinking about my problem and why I have been unable to function normally and whether my pathways were not functioning. I have tried using Choline and B-5 in a 3 to one ratio, 1500mg Choline and 500mg B-5 30 minutes before sex with phenomenal results, I also take 500mg. of L-Arginine 3 times a day, total 1500 mg. The feeling that I thought was gone forever has return. The effect has actually worked overnight when morning sex was performed without any supplements. While I do not have an ejaculation every time, I am not concerned as I think this is more a function of my age. Bottom line, I now believe that this problem IS reversible and this may give some clues on what else can be done along this line. AMP http://www.smartbodyz.com/Sex-Drive-support-l-arginine-choline-vitamin-B5-dl-phe\ \ nylalanine.htm Sex Drive Support - L-Arginine, Choline, Vitamin B5 B-5, DL-Phenylalanine L-Arginine In the 1990's, scientists discovered that l-arginine, a non-essential amino acid commonly found in the diet, is an oxidative precursor of nitric oxide (NO). L-Arginine works to increase both the levels and activity of nitric oxide, leading to increased cGMP resulting in increased blood flow to the genitals. Researchers at New York University School of Medicine gave L-arginine to a group of impotent men, and found that six out of 15 men receiving the amino acid claimed an improved ability, while none of the 15 men in the placebo group reported any benefits. Choline and Vitamin B-5 Sexual arousal occurs not just in the genitals but in the whole body and, especially, in the brain. For men, it actually begins when the brain sends impulses down the spinal cord and out to the nerves that serve the penis. These impulses trigger the production of nitric oxide (NO), which causes penile arteries to dilate and the spongy core of the penis to relax and become engorged with blood. The neurotransmitter that carries the sexual message is acetylcholine (ACh) which is important for women, too. Numerous studies confirm a key role for cholinergic nerve transmission in sexual responses. Simply speaking, with too little ACh, sex drive / sexual health can decline. Increase ACh levels, and sexual activity goes up. ACh is involved in the build-up toward orgasm and the urethral and vaginal contractions that occur during orgasm as well as the subjective perception of orgasm intensity and duration. In addition to its direct role in sex drive support, ACh is also the primary chemical the body uses to transmit signals from nerves to skeletal muscles, the muscles that move the body. You need this chemical for muscular control and proper muscle tone. There is reason to believe that enhancing cholinergic neuromuscular transmission will enhance your energy and stamina by raising your ACh levels and that this can provide indirect sexual benefits. While drugs can enhance the body's cholinergic activity, these drugs not only have unpleasant or even dangerous side effects but are available only by prescription. One way to safely and effectively enhance ACh levels is to take supplements of choline / vitamin B5. Or, the full menu of Life Extension Mix (a multi-vitamin/mineral formula) contains generous amounts of B5 and choline (as phosphatidylcholine). Another form of choline can be found in Cognitex under the name Glycerylphosphorylcholine (GPC). Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid or calcium pantothenate, appears to enhance endurance: When a person is in a state of deficiency ... as most are who depend on food for B5 and, Since an ample amount is needed for creating ACh from choline, it is paramount in its role in the energy-producing Krebs Cycle which is vital for all living cells. An early indication that vitamin B5 might enhance physical endurance came from a study in which rats were placed into a tank filled with cool (64°F) water and forced to swim until they became exhausted. Prior to their swim, the rats' diets had included either high, adequate, or deficient levels of vitamin B-5. The high dose rats lasted more than four times as long as those whose diet had been B-5 deficient. In another experiment, pieces of frog muscle were stimulated electrically to make them twitch. The stimulation continued until the muscle became exhausted. Muscle tissue that was bathed in vitamin B-5 had double the work output as the control muscle. [Ralli, 1953]. Dosage and Timing Experienced users recommend taking choline plus vitamin B5 (or B-5 by itself) about 20 to 30 minutes before sex in order to get the full effect right from the start. But, notes one user, " Don't worry if you start too soon, it'll kick in as you're going. " He adds, " Not everybody will notice it, but if you set a clock, you'll notice that you have the energy to go longer. Pretty much everyone I've told about B-5 has experienced that effect. " Combinations that many people have found effective include three times as much choline as B-5 (for example, 500-1,000 mg of B-5 in combination with 1,500-3,000 mg of choline). It is probably wise to begin with lower doses in this same ratio, and gradually increase the dose as tolerated. DL-Phenylalanine Several lines of evidence link activity of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain with sexual behavior. Generally, it appears that higher levels of dopamine are associated with more sexual interest and vice versa. Increased brain dopamine activity caused by taking the drug L-dopa is believed to be the cause of a " hypersexuality " syndrome in people who take the drug for Parkinson's disease. L-dopa is a chemical precursor of dopamine (which in turn, is a precursor of norepinephrine). In other words, the body uses L-dopa to make dopamine. L-dopa is available only by prescription but you can also increase your brain dopamine levels by taking the non-prescription amino acids that the body uses to make L-dopa -- tyrosine and/or phenylalanine. L-Theanine, an extract from green tea also is a dopamine enhancer to consider. People who have lost interest in sex because they are depressed may benefit from taking doses of 100 to 500 milligrams of DL-phenylalanine. Supplements of vitamin B-6, vitamin C, folic acid and copper, may help maximize the conversion of L-dopa to dopamine.

I then tried a product called EZEREX which I bought over the net and I was able to get an erection after a dose of the product but the numbness was still there and I could not orgasim, I also tried a product called VOLUMAX (which is sold at Vitain Shoppe) with similar results. Posted by: " Mozart " gman506@... mozartvoncrow Wed Jul 1, 2009 11:35 pm (PDT) gwistik I started with capsules from The Vitamin Store and am now using pills from Puritan's Pride. Yes multiple times per day but a second dose does not seem to be necessary. Sometimes I have waited as long as a couple of hours before having sex and the results seem to be the same. On several ocassions I was unable to get a great erection the second or third time. Only once did I not get an erection after taking the pills, (yesterday) Another thing I have experimented with is drinking a lot of water and or tea before sex and not urinating prior to sex, this seems to help create a firmer erection and enhanced sensations. Don't give up, you are replicating my formula, try increasing your dosage, I have used as much as 600/1800mg, the article says you may go as high as 1000/3000mg which I have not done. I am 6 foot and 190 lbs if that is relevant. As an aside I do have a very attractive younger partner that is crazy about me, and just enjoys having sex. She is a former longerey model, 5'9 " and 125 lbs. Sorry I do not know where you can find one of these. ;-) Needless to say she is also pleased with my new abilities, but was perfectly happy before as well. Guest guest
Be careful of taking large amounts of methione without mega amounts of vitamin B6, folic, and vitamin B12. Some people recommend Betaine as well. Methione is converted to homocysteine which scars the ateries causing heart disease, cholesterol build up, strokes, and alzheimers disease, ect. Homocysteine is pretty nasty stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homocysteine Kavy Hyperhomocysteinemia, either fasting or after oral methionine loading, appears to be an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). It remains unclear whether fasting total homocysteine determination alone adequately detects the full spectrum of hyperhomocysteinemic individuals. We measured fasting and 4-h post methionine loading (0.1 g L-methionine/kg body weight) total plasma homocysteine in 274 participants in The NHLBI Family Heart Study, a population-based investigation of genetic and non-genetic determinants of CHD. Of the total number (n = 47) of hyperhomocysteinemic persons, 43% (20/47) were identified only by methionine loading, while 32% (15/47) of the total number, and 75% of those with post-methionine loading hyperhomocysteinemia only (15/20), had fasting total homocysteine concentrations below the 75th percentile (10.7 ìmol/l). We conclude that fasting total plasma homocysteine determination alone fails to identify a sizable percentage (> 40%) of persons who may have clinically relevant hyperhomocysteinemia post methionine loading. >> I have reposted below my original posts for those of you that missed them or have questions about dosage etc.> > As a further update the last week has been incredible, I achived an orgasim on three out of the last 5 days, I did not attempt sexual intercourse on the second and fourth days, and on the 3rd day I was multi-orgasmic within 3 hours, it has been 40 years since have been able to achive that!!! Guest guest
Mozart can you tell us how long you were on b-5 and choline before seeing results. Thank You > > Back in May of this year I started taking B-5 and Choline and had great results. During this time I also started taking Methionine on the recomendation of RN from this board. Methionine is supposed to work after 90 days. > The B-5 worked wonderfully as I reported here earlier. Some time in August/Sept. is just stopped working , over a week-end I tried on three successive days with no effect. I decided that if it was not working that I should just stop taking it, even though I was still having romantic encounters multiple times per week with my girlfriend. Within a week I started performing again with out taking anything prior to the sexual encounter. Some days it was great some days it was weak and I could not sustain an erection for more than a few minutes. It got progressevly better and better. Now I am completely back to normal after about ten years of difficulty. When I say normal I am saying it is like when I was in my 30's, very good. > I do not know if the B-5 connected pathways that were blocked and I healed over time or the use of Methionine reconected the pathway's or if just having more sex has reinvigorated me. What ever the cause I am thrilled with my new ability to have a very satisfying orgasim every other day. > I think this should give hope to all of you fellow sufferers that this is not a permanant situation, recovery is possible. > I attributed some of my decline in ability to age ( I am 61 )and just accepted the situation for many years and just stopped looking for a solution. Guest guest
Has anyone else tried mozart's combination? B5, choline, arginine, methionine, etc? I'm curious if anyone else has had results. Also, does the b5/choline combo help with libido and desire or just erections? What in your combo Mozart do you think is helping libido/desire? Guest guest
You should try it yourself and draw your own conclusions. One thing I've noticed about this group is a lot of folks are seemingly reluctant to try supplements that have worked for other members. Rather, they repeatedly ask that member the same questions over and over. Because PSSD affects people in different ways, you don't know unless you try for yourself. That being said, I've been taking arginine for over a year. I recently ordered B-5 and choline and will give it a shot. I suspect it will help some.. I'm interested in moving forward, and am willing to try all kinds of things to help myself heal. Guest guest
I never tried this cocktail, but rightly when I noticed I had lost sensitivity, I read that vitamin B helps. so I started taking Supradyn (with lots of other vitamins). and it did help. in fact, after three weeks, my sensitivity was really great, and my orgasms were completely pleasurable. the problem was the erections only. I thought I had cured, so I stopped taking Supradyn, and everything went back to " anormal " . I'm currently taking Supradyn again... now I'll take it for a long time, and two pills a day. > > it's not a typical one shot recipe to make it work unless u r very young and lucky, it replaces what's missing over time or needed. lindarn > Re: B-5 update > > > > Has anybody else tried Mozart's choline/b vitamin cocktail with any success?
