Guest guest
Well, cyproheptadine (periactin) is an "antiserotonergic" and an antagonist at the 5HT-2 receptor, so maybe he's keyed into the fact that PSSD results from too much serotonin. It's indicated for SSRI sexual dysfunction (not PSSD specifically), so it could be helpful. Something dopaminergic like wellbutrin would probably work for lack of sensation/pleasure, but you'd have to ask the people that have tried it.But yes, you should at the very least ask him about the details and why he's doing what he's doing, whether you think he is wrong or not. The intricacies of the human brain are still way beyond today's scientific knowledge. Best teephos > > I've recently insisted upon my psychiatrist that we solve my PSSD issue. However, I'm not completely convinced he knows what he's doing at all. I've told him the issue I'm having is with anesthesia and lack of pleasure, and not anorgasmia, low libido or ED, but he provided me with Cialis... which, as I expected, had no effect besides what it's advertised for. Actually, for my case, it seemed to make things feel even worse. Now he's prescribed Periactin for me, which as far as I can tell was something that has been prescribed for anorgasmia, which again is NOT the issue that I've been having. Also, the latest information on it I've been able to find goes back to 1995. > > So, does my doctor have any idea what the hell he's doing? And should I call my doctor out on it if I feel like he doesn't? >
